That's odd, I only got 46 with mcafee. Can you list the stuff that's using a lot of resources maybe?, or try googling some of the ones ur unsure of, and find out whether you can end them without screwing up Mcafee.

Should have searched before you got McAfee, AVG is way better man and uses less resources.

Try to determin what those process are for and if you dont need them, try to override them in My Pc>Admi>Services.

humm... i get 40 processes with Mcaffee.

There are a number of ways you can cut back on processes starting up on your computer at startup

1) Go to Start -> All Programs -> Start up, and delete and programs that are in there, you recognise, and you dont need

2) Go to Start -> Run and type in MSCONFIG
Go to the startup tab, and untick any processes that you recognise, and don't necesarily need.

3) Go to start -> Run, and type in REDEDIT.

IF you dont know the process, and quick search on google will tell you what it is.

I have used this, and have disabled the crap like msn, EA Link, MS Office Toolbar, Quicktime, Realplayer.... etc etc

Here's a guide to killing Windows services:

http://majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=12

Anything no listed there use Google. Look for a result from http://www.liutilities.com/products/win … esslibrary It'll explain what the process is and if it's necessary.

Using this method I boot with 30 processes.

Sorry but Norton and Mcaffee are known resource hogs.
The additional process's are more than likely dedicated to Mcaffee. You can try to shut down down some others though. Try the trial version of Wintask Pro to get an idea of what you can lose. http://www.liutilities.com/support/downloads/ . If you click on a process then look at the bottom it should tell you if you really need it or not as well as what it is assigned to.

im sorry... but you can easily do this yourself.

www.google.co.uk

type in wmpnetwk.exe

brings up http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/proce … k.exe.html as the first link

Which tells you that The file is located in the folder C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\ and belongs to Windows Media Player. It is used to share Windows Media Player libraries.

....... get the idea?
