In reality, the brits have had more experience in this kind of warfare/insurgency than we have had.
I noticed something else too. It seems British Infantry and American grunts share a lot of the same doctrines and tactics, especially for TCP's (road blocks) and MOUT (CQC -close quarters combat). we learned to mimic the same way the brits clear a room after some trial and error. you see, my entire training, its been engrained that you have proper target ID and a controled shot group once you see an enemy. real life doesnt work on semi auto. we copied the british tactic, spray from corner to corner and frag (actually frag and then spray and then clear and then next room) but thats ofcourse if you know there are nothing but enemy in there.
