Had a quick search but didn't quite find what i was looking for.

I'm considering getting Rainbow six vegas on the pc but would like a bit of feedback before i go spending my money.  I've seen the trailers and they look stunning but I'm concerned that I tried the original rainbow six and it felt too clunky and and restrained (I wanna just leap in and work things out as i go along).  Have just finished playing splinter cell 4 and hoped vegas would be quite similar controls etc/feel.

Have been trying to find a pc demo without luck

demo is not out yet
I'v got it for 2 weeks now and I can say that it is the bollux,
its similar to spliter cell only you dont have to be really sneaky all the time so you can act like rambo now and then, online mode is good, with
attack an defend(attackers always get their asses kicked so I never play it)
team sharpshooter, (love this )
sharpshooter, (even better)
team survival (total chaos:D)
survival(total chaos:D)
retrieval (haven't done it yet)
Coop story mode (this is really good if you don't work as a squad you aren't gonna make it so there is a lot of teamwork on this one)
Coop terrorist hunt (same as above) the AI of the bots is really good when set to hard if its on easy they are just as stupid as the guys in bf2,
if their is any thing you wanna know just give a shout,

yeah 1 or 2 little bugs, but no way near as many as bf2, the patches ubi makes are small and efective so I think this problem will be solved soon

This is a fucking ace games add me to xfire for a coop.
You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.

and yes it should run shitty on low end machines,
I'm just really lucky,
running it on an 2.8 ghz processor (minimum is 3.0) btw if your processor is "to good"say 3.6 it starts acting up two it tells you to reduce to a 3.5 ghz processor:D lol

As long as it's not as buggy as splinter cell 4, alt tab=CTD, loading a game=sometimes ctd, change graphics driver=game is unplayable and must be reinstalled

you guys have convinced me.  Hopefully it will arrive though the post next week

Out of interest how would you describe the co op mode?  how many people per team, is it stealth or blazing action etc?

In co-op I think the most you can have is 4 players on your team, from the little I have played we usually move as 2 man squads and use flanking tactics and multiple door entries. It can be both stealthy or blazing action. I usually start out stealthy with my suppressor eqipped but then just say screw it and all hell breaks loose. It is very addicting, especially if you can find the right guys to play with online.

any of you finished the singelplayer mode yet?
I think I'm at the single last map (what ever way ya call the map before the last one:D)
and I have to kill this Russian chick and mess around with a computer installation at the same time,
I trie'd letting my team mess with the computers and me shooting with a 50.call sniper rifle threw bullet proof glass, that doesn't work because ..... its bulletproof,
I trie'd letting my team do the computers and move on to the top my self and shoot the bitch but when I move around the corner were she is , pling you have failed to kill... (Russian name)

HELP ME I CAN'T FINISH THIS DAMN GAME!!!

The number 1 bitch most people have is that it's so simple to play. The original game was extremely tactical & if you couldn't command your squad & plan right in SP you died.
Since it went to console the controls changed alot, you can only command your 2 person squad as a whole, no individual commands but if you just like fast-action FPS games then you'll love the way it is now.
It's a bit rough on the system but if you have an ok computer your good. Make sure you check the specs to see if you can play it first though, it wouldn't run at all on my old machine.

Mind if i ask how you know that? i swear you said you have a below-recommended speed:)

I do have a 2.8 ghz processor and I have installed the game 5 times on several ways,
and yes the game is running smooth perfect and fine, I can even host a 4 man coop server without having any trouble,  dunno god must love me,

and I took care of it tried it another 400 times and I got it done I finished the single player mode in about 24 hours on a LAN,

Shooting the aquarium didn't crash for me, I was hoping for the whole thing to explode mission impossible style but all that happened was a pathetic trickle of water

Perfect, I found the first game too confusing and was too impatient to jump in and start shooting

Thats a point, I was assuming my comp would play it seeing as splinter cell 4 worked but I'm not so sure it will work now.
edit: Looking around it seems that my cpu is the weakest point.  Any idea if having the extra ram will help or should i just cancel my order?

Honestly I don't know about your cpu. I have an AMD 4600 & it says it's "below reccomendation" or whatever. I have the exact specs here somewhere, gimme a sec.

*Edit:* From the game manual:

Supported OS: Windows XP only
Processor: 3GHz Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 3000 (3.5 GHz Pentium 4 or Athlon 3500 reccomended)
RAM: 1GB
Video Card: 128MB Direct X 9.0 compliant, Shader 3.0 enabled video card (256MB reccomended) - The Shader 3.0 is why it wouldn't work on my last system
All nVidia cards from 6600GT up are supported & all Radeon cards from X1600 & up are supported.

So you'll be able to run it.  It's an awesome game, really fast action but on alot of servers once you die your dead until the round ends so people are much more careful about running around (no Jihad type stuff)

Thanks for looking that up for me.  Will +1 when i get some more karma.

By the sounds of it I may have to play at lowish resolutions etc but as long as its at least playable then that shouldn't matter for now.

Im still hoping for a fix for 8800 graphic cards,   as my 8800 can barely run it @ 25 fps.
