Enjoy
12-page article, including lots of benchmarking of the R600 and GeForce 8800GTX

Update: - Authenticity Of This Article

This article is authentic. Our R600 sample is an RTM sample used in the MS CERT process for driver validation (especially for Vista). We are not publishing pictures of the card itself right now, as the card contains major ID tags that we can not remove yet for source protection. We will add pictures of the card itself once we can remove these tags.

HAH! ATI/AMD came out on top on all tests except BF2.

So, they are going to have a GDDR3 AND a GDDR4 version of the R600...

It's a power sucker though. I heard it needs 2 X PCI-E plugs and a molex plug =/

Yeah, those 230W make me somewhat suspicious. Plus, the new nVidia series will also come out somewhere in march, so they might beat that R600 again...

But I thought they were the low and med performance version of the 8800, so that the poor folks can get DX10 too?

Actually higher memory bandwidth with the same unified shader tech.

Actually higher clock with the same unified shader tech.
But what be then the low and med cards I have heard about?

You tell me . The GTS verions of the GTX is the only thing I can think of. I'm sure there will be other verions of the R600 as well. The MSRP on this one was 630 USD.

From what I understood in that article they said the G80 (8800) will be more affordable when the G90 comes out. I would think that to be a given. Whenever a manufacture release a new card inevitably the previous card loses value. Or G86 or 84 for that case also.

Yeah, I rather think that 8800 are not more than a prototype and that 8600/8900 or whatever will already be based on a new, potent architecture (like 7800 vs. 7900).

I cant wait till they start sticking the 8800's together like they did with the 7950 series .

Will the 8800 work as well on Battlefield 2 as it seems to do on "Battlefiled 2"?

Huh?

You know I hate my self for asking this and feel like an idiot, but you know something like this has happened to me REPEATEDLY through life.  Considering I have this mobo

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductI … tID=491417

Wouldn an ATI card be gimped on that?  I was told that the mobo is maxed for Nvidia GPU's, and should expect issues if I put a R600 in with it.  Thats not true right?  I mean theres no reason for it?  HELP!?

Thanks

Im suspicious of the review, why couldnt they just photoshop the offending 'tags' out? Who are they anyway- it doesnt look like an established hardware site, yet hes scooped all the big reviewers across the net? Theres nothing else there apart from strips of google ads- oh ho ho- perhaps its a way of driving millions of hits his way?

Who knows, but I'll belive the benchmarks when I see more of them.

I was just about to post that...
For those of you who don't understand, do a spell check on the BF2 chart.

Wow! BattleFILED 2! (It is the realistic combat game between the US files and the insurgency files. Who will win? You decide the outcome in this trilling, cardboard cutting action game!)

The Insurgents don't keep files because they don't want to be traced, so the USFC (United States Files Corps) would win.
