Do .50cal machineguns penetrate bulletproof glass?
...
yes.....do some research.
... Real life, or BF2?

why are you planning something?
lol, those rounds are huge..
no, its a bunch of jackasses, of whom 90% have no fucking clue what they are talking about.Smaug wrote:

This might be a good place to do some research on the ballistics of a .50 Browning Machine Gun round.
specifically, being fired from rifles.

if you want any more specs, try www.dod.gov and look under contracts.
now that is research.
well poo on you.. discovery channel not good enough actual military footage isnt either.. that isnt rocks flying in that second video..Parker wrote:

Depends on the thickness of the 'bullet resistant' (bulletproof is obsolete in this litigation-heavy world of bullet-resistant vests, less-lethal riot control gear, and mass media outcries) glass.
However, .50BMG rounds will penetrate pretty much anything short of thick armour plating. The rounds are huge compared to the next common sizes down of 7.62mm and 5.56mm, which millitary-grade 'bulletproof' glass is supposed to stop. Most civillian-grade stuff runs into trouble with large handguns, and would barely slow a machinegun round.
If you get an M2 or an M85 and start shooting at stuff labeled as 'bulletproof', you will not only be arrested and/or shot at by the cops, but find that you'll be leaving neat half-inch holes in things.
Though if you REALLY want to penetrate things, take a look at the 30mm shells used for armoured cars and choppers. Huge rounds, and even just dropped from a few feet up do a good job of penetration on concrete, and presumably would go straight through anything organic. (I have an inert one lying around being shiny, it left an inch-deep dent in a concrete floor when I dropped it, and probably would have broken my foot had I not jumped back; damn thing nosed down and hit tip-first with a hardened steel penetrator.)

yes indeed, there is a 20mm anti-material rifle that just zaps pretty much any armors engine.......gotta love technology.
Oh my bad guys! I meant BF2!
Of course I know that .50cal mgs can penetrate bulletproof glass.
Thanks for the info though.

Nuff said.
and you wonder why so many ppl complained about the .50 cal in bf2 and how it is too powerful.......now in bf2 its nothing more then a peashooter
on mythbusters they proved that a 30-06 shoots farther in water than a 50 caliber does, the 50 cal stops 2 feet into the water, while the 30-06 goes 8 feet. random, but cool
The M1 Garand was the only one that reached the bottom I think. They made a rare sniper version of it during World War 2 too.11sog_raider wrote:

Actually, the springfield (musket-rifle?), shotgun (slugs), and handguns made it. The full-metal jacket rounds did not. I'm guessing that the G-forces on the bullets ripped the jacket off the newer rounds and destroyed them.
yep and the korean war, mine was a sniper rifle during the korean war, i just found out._j5689_ wrote:

The newer FMJ rounds (particularly assault rifle rounds) are designed to tumble and fragment upon impact, and water is a surprisingly hard surface.
well you can kill a pilot in an attack chopper with the .50 in bf2 right? now why would they allow that if it wasn't true!!!
Well it depends on the thickness, but typically yes. It'd own you if you were shot by one.thtthht wrote:

Its all about the size of the bullet and the angle of the shot....a little bit.11sog_raider wrote:

I know they make a mean headshot.
and take almost all your life away, so you heal yourself and they shoot you again, so it happens again.
