I'm not totally noob per se as I've been playing about a month now, but still confused about a few things. -->

How in hades do I tell my squad where to go if I'm a squad leader? I read somewhere you can click in a map to do it, but you cant click in the minimap so that makes no sense.

Also, is it possible to fly aircraft without flipping over on take off? What am I doing wrong? Is there an easier way to practice or learn? The manual says like 500 different controls all across my keyboard are used but its impossible to use the mouse and 3 spots on the keyboard at once (only got two hands).

Would be cool if anyone knows whats up.

you can also hit caps locks to bring up the map.
when you are squad leader you also a voice communication with the squad (B) and with the commander (V).
keep at it man.

As for planes... are you using a joystick?

I don't... and i'm not that good at flying... but use the keys (arrow buttons) because they're far easier than a mouse.

USMC has the jet that takes off vertically... it's generally seated in the spot on the carrier where there's only room for vertical take off... Hit "S" to hover, then when you're decently high (after hovering 5 seconds or so) hit W and shift for afterburners.... then, lay off afterburners and continue flying... As for runway takeoffs.... where do you flip over? do you flip sideways... or... loop...????

dont even try to fly the jet with default controls.. best place to practice is to make a server (local server) wit dragon valley 64 player map

i recommend keyboard and mouse which is wat i use.. keep trying till u dont crash no more...

Mini-map is actually the thingy in the corner, "m" or "Caps" is just called map, so you don't get confused. I wasn't aware "M" worked for giving orders but I've never tried so it could. I use "Caps Lock". Press it once to bring up the map, right click on your point of interest (usually a flag) & select the command you want from there.

You know how to join a squad without being invited, right? For some reason that took me like a month to figure out

As for the airplanes & heli's....I still stay away from them whenever possible. The best way to practice though is to go into your multiplayer tab, select "create local", crank the player number up to 64 & make sure vehicles aren't turned off, then pick a map with planes & heli's & practice as long as you want. If you don't know the maps yet the ones with carriers always have good air vehicles. After you do that for awhile there is 2 single player maps you can practice in. "Operation Clean Sweep" has a jet for both sides (so you can get used to fighting other air vehicles) & I think it's "Zatar Wetlands" that has the chopper (might be more but thats what I used).
Even if you only successfully take off one time out of 50 when flying the jet it's a start, you'll eventually get used to it.

One last thing: in the Options > Controls panel in BF2 you can change your keys, if you go under the Aircraft tab it'll change the keys just when your in a jet. After playing for awhile on normal you'll start to realize what you want different keys to do, for example I don't feel comfortable hitting the "Z" key to go prone so i set it on my mouse (before I got a speedpad).
Good Luck.

*Edit:* damn I type too f*ckin slow

Sweet, nice feedback. It looks like I need to practice flying for a while. I thought it would be as easy as driving at first but apparently its like a flight sim where it's its own game kinda thing. I'll practice until I get it because I see dudes racking up the kills that can fly choppers well.

I just use T as sqad leader? "move out attack here" "demolitions needed here"
better than farting about with maps while on the move!

To practice helicopters and planes, try to dowload the mod called Airmaps. This will give you the experience required to fly on a public server.

Edit : To fly correctly, you may need to speed up your control settings in the options menu (the air control part).

Oh wait I remember what else I wanted to ask but forgot :

I've opened several Weapons for Special Ops but can only cycle through 2 of them (default and G36C). Is there a way to access all of the weapons I opened?

you are saying you chose G36C and Scar-L as unlocks and Scar-L doesnt work?
strange
If it helps you any I prefer G36C usually anyway, Scar-L is like "hey woohooo, over here with the loud gun!!" and for me its usually crap at slow aimed shots but if you spray it the last bullet seems to kill them somehow, bit of a pisser having to unload a clip to get kills

Exactly. I just unlocked Scar-L yesterday and when I cycle in Spec Ops to get the wep in game It only toggles the default and G36C, but not Scar L.

It looks like no one mentioned it yet but if you use a joystick (which I do) the FIRST thing to do is calibrate it in Windows using the joystick driver program or the default Windows driver.  Until you do this you WILL flip and flop and die in-game whenever you get in a jet or heli until you are calibrated correctly.
