The G80s have been out for a while now and since one of their biggest selling points is that they are DX10 compatible ready for Vista, you'd think there would be some drivers for them.

But no, Nivida still haven't released the drivers to use the G80 in Vista. I'm getting quite pissed off by this.

There aren't even Vista drivers for my Nividia chipset.

Well they should release them first to see if they would work with DX10 properly.

It's not just laziness. They have got working Vista DX10 drivers, I read somewhere. They just aren't releasing them yet. Selfishness is what it is, they could at least release them as beta versions, especially now Vista is finished (not released, but official copies have been distibuted to companies, my friend is running an official copy of ultimate edition).

They've released drivers for all their other GPUs in Vista, just not the G80s (dunno about quadros either).

Could be.

They're succeeding in pissing off their target market though.

I'm just concerned that they aren't releasing it because it's full of horrible problems that they don't want anyone to know about.

This is why I do not have my primary machine on Vista yet. It's really ironic because it is a DX10 card and no vista drivers...lol. They should have them released by the time Vista is official (January 30, 2007).

They'd better do.

they already announced them for early December, which then became late December, and we're still waiting. Bastards.

I haven't really looked into the matter, but it probably has something to do with an agreement with Microsoft.

I doubt it. If that were the case they wouldn't have announced earlier driver release date.

Probably Microsoft doesn't want DX10 secrets out!!!!!! Lol but on a serious note, why aren't there any DX9.0c drivers anyway?

There are, for XP.

Drivers don't determine that. All they do is provide an interface between the hardware and the OS. DX10 is an integral part of Vista so any working G80 driver would work for DX10 in Vista.

I mean for vista dammit. There should be at least a DX 9 driver for vista...

The drivers don't determine whether it is DX9 or 10, that's the job of the graphics hardware. Any sort of driver for a DX10 card will allow DX10 content to work (in the right software environment).

I suppose it would be possible to write a driver for a G80 in Vista that disabled DX10 functionality, but it would probably be more hassle than making a driver that does support it.
