last night i played wake island . i applied for command and shock horror i actually got it . we got the win 233 to 0 tickets i scored 38 points x 2 fir the win not bad for first effort . near the the end of the round i hear the drum roll cool i thought got mt command badge . but no its my combat engineers? , the only time i didnt have my comm screen up is when i fixed my uav . next round i tried for commander again but lost out to rank , being only a lance corp . i think command should be first in first served , if you suck then have a mutiny . i only want my basic command then ill let the pros do it .

secondly has anyone noticed that the medal requirements on special forces are 4500hrs is this a mistake or what . thats 187.5 days playing 24 hr a day to get 1 medal and theres 7 or 8 of them ??????????????????

yes, we've noticed.  we've also come to the conclusion that EA will most likely change these requirements in an upcoming patch.

i have nothing wrong with the command system as it is.  commander is a role that can change the entire outcome of a game and since it all hinges on one person, the most skilled of the people who apply should be granted position of commander.

While I basically agree with that, it must also be stated that rank does not necessarily equal skill.

Then again, those who don't want to be commander usually won't apply anyway..

I hate the people that mutiny you right when you get in the commander position.

A lot of times people get into the habit of just opening up the window and hitting apply.  The apply button turns to a mutiny button when someone is already commander.  I've hit the button quite a few times by mistake.  Who cares though?  I've never seen a successful mutiny even with a flying commander.

It is first come first serve sort of.  If you have a fast loading PC and the server does not have a map start countdown you can get the jump on other people with slower loading PCs.

Doesn't matter...Basic Command requires 40 command points.  If that's before the "x2 for the win" (which I'm pretty sure it is, because I got mine in a loss), then you missed it by two points.  Not surprising at all if your team won quickly at 233 to 0...that's not much time to accrue command points.

You still didn't meet the requirements for Basic Command.  You were two points short.  You needed 40, you got 38.  Or, more accurately, your team got you 38 points...IIRC, commander score is figured out using some sort of formula based on your team's scores.

Can anyone verify this?

Most of the time loading is spent reading the map data from the hard drive.  Where I have an advantage is I'm using two 80GB 7200 RPM SATA drives in RAID 0 configuration.  Basically what this means is the data is striped across both drives.  This increases performance due to the fact that two read\write heads are used.  My buddy had his computer over here a week ago with as much RAM as mine, faster CPU and faster GPU and he was sure he could beat me in loading a map.  I was ready significantly faster than he was.

Maybe they should make the commander a command building that has to be entered like a vehicle.  This would at least keep smacktard commanders from flying or sitting in a tank using it as their own stationary piece of body armor.

SlickWRX  . . I like the idea . .
What's funny I think is when, a commander is flying around with the uav, arty, and radar is all down and the commander is demanding on screen someone fix all this. When this happens  and im a engineer, I tell him HELL NO, get your ass out of that helo and fix it yourself. Thats your JOB ..

riddle me this,  if the commander's score is an average of that Army's points, how could they ever be #1?  an average would put them in the middle right?  Yes I know the x2 would boost you up, but to the #1 slot?  MAybe my math is way off, but that doesnt seem right.  Everytime I played commnder I watched my points go up as i dropped supply boxes and arty.  And I checked my score just before we won.  And when it got to the screen that shows everyone's points, I had double what my score was as the round ended.  Maybe its just coincidence.  But I'd like to see it somewhere from EA that the Command score is simply an average.  Doesn't seem like it.

its not an average and its not from doing any thing i have been commander be for and just left it didnt do any on purpose of course no one cared though but i still got around 40 points befor the 2x so u doing some thing is just to help them but if u think about it artting enemys means your team loses kills meaning they get les points meaning u get less points kinda weird huh. but like RKF77 said its some kinda of fucked up formula.
