sniping is nice if u arent planning on taking territory and want a good kill to death ratio. with good positioning, it will be basically impossible for anybody to kill you, while u can be popping up for chances at kills the whole time.

snipers pretty much cant attack if they are detected. at least if ur playing with good infantry. even the best snipers seem to miss more than 90% of the time if u are bunnyhopping and using cover. Especially at close range. its almost always easy to kill snipers by rushing them, u pop out, take 3 shots, hide pop up somewhere else, repeat. he will run away or die after maybe 3 of these, and will be hard pressed to land accurate shots when he only ever has less than a second to do it. the exception is at ranges beyond 100-150 meters tho. in these cases, the sniper can only kill u if u try to kill him, but u probably have no chance at all. so basically u can just ignore the sniper (even the BEST snipers), but not stand still, and go about accomplishing whatever it is you were doing.

Sniper is a good kit to choose if you realize you wont be capturing any more territory for a while. like if u are just camping the other teams final base, or if u are stuck in a base being raped by the other teams snipers and vehics. for this reason it is also frequently the kit of throwing in the towel. when u decide u aren't going to charge for any more flags and help win the round, you go sniper and just offer support to whatever crazy fool is still charging the lines with the idea of getting captures and winning. because snipers are by definition away from the action (and in bf2, the flags) their role is almost always secondary to other players. as in, if u are a great sniper, and u have no other good players on your team, your team will lose. good medics can carry a bad team and still win because their job can be done safely in flag capture zones.

sniping is very fun.

I do ok on taking flags... in fact im sure my figures must stack up against some assaults / medics...
(linkage below)

And i would not say ignoring me was a good idea in any situation that i can see you....

Agree though that good infantry (3) working together is a case of (unless you hit 2 headshots with your first 2 shots), its time to withdraw. But then 3 players vs 1 should always have the upper hand and you should be prepared to retreat (after spotting)

Bunny hop is hard to headshot reliably due to air control so a centre mass shot is my main aim.

I don't hate them... they simply suck! Poor losers! useless as... Only the claymores are cool. I really hate when I play Ghost Town there are at least 3 sniperz from my team - they just sit in one place the whole round and don't try to ccap any flags!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 How lame! Sniper class = anti teamwork!

I played BF2 today for the first time in 4-5 months. I came in contact with two superb Snipers and they annoyed the fuck out of me, but I respect someone who can Snipe well. I am a good Sniper, I know that, but there are those better than me and going one on one with those guys, 60% of the time I came off worse and it was mostly close-quarters combat where I gained the upper hand against these guys - pistol/grenades/Claymore-pursuit, (Marking your escape route with a Claymore so anyone pursuing you gets shrapnel to the face.)
They seemed to know my every move, even when they, (one in particular,) couldn't see me and always had a counter for what I had strategised. Although they were better than me I feel proud that I managed to do almost as much damage to them as they did to me, (also I was dealing with a keyboard that would randomly stop responding - fucking wireless technology.)

Sniping: It's a lot of fun, makes you feel elite plus I play the game so I enjoy myself, not just for winning rounds and getting stats. Caring too much about stats and winning rounds will stress you out to much.

Being Sniped at: Annoying. Fucking annoying, especially when they're good. However, Snipers should be annoying, so I see no harm in that.

Indifferent if we are winning.

Hate them when we are losing.  Example.

We are playing Sharqi.  There is a battle between TV and Construction.  US is backed into the TV station.  There is 1 sniper who has been sitting a top a building near Entrance since the start of the match.  And what does he do.

Nothing, just sits there because the battle is on the other side of the map and doesn't think "Perhaps I should grab a flag and help my team... it would be an easy capture, no one is anywhere near me".

I HATE THOSE MOTHERFUCKER.

I drop arty on em.

Sniping is fun.. No teamwork u say? I play as sniper when teamwork in my team sucks = almost always. Because of a fact that Im not in a clan anymore I cannot go to servers with my clanmates and I there are no chances to have a nice squad to go for flags.. Even when I play as medic or assault I usually do it alone.. I go for flag.. kill defenders or die.. no chance for revive.. I usually create squads but honestly even if people join my squad they dont spawn on my position so what's the point. The only teamwork u can have is when u go to server with your clanmates.. otherwise u play with mob.. the best option for u is to play as sniper then because u don't need anyone.

I admit I use claymores a fair bit but I don't go spamming them in enemy spawn points. My usual routine is spawn, place one clay to protect the flag I spawned at, run off to a decent position overlooking as much as the battlefield as possible (This allows me to act as recon for the team, give long range support for flag capers and means of defense for some flags) use the 2nd claymore to cover my ass. I still have like 5 times as many kills with the rifle so I don't consider myself to be that much of a claymore 'whore'.
I don't know about you lot but I find being killed by AT mines just as annoying as claymores so why don't you bash the Engineers.
But whatever, no amount of sniper bashing is going to make us stop playing the game

I don`t mind that at all, but i don`t think you should defend flags with clays, protecting your ass is fine.

What if everyone ran around defending flags with clays, sounds fun?

Sniping is cool. Countersniping is one of my specialties. Keeping choppers temporarily grounded is always fun however though you always know your doing a good job when your pulling off 15 and 20 kills and 0 deaths then all the sudden along comes an artillery strike just for you in your secluded, very nicely hidden spot. That always tells me i'm doing a good job.

If you keep your eyes open claymores are very easy to spot. I always look out for them now when going for a flag. If you see one just don't walk into it, simple.

But when claymores are left by someone who knows where to place them that means you're dead even though u see them

When I leave a claymore you wont even be able to spot it until it explodes in your face.

I love sniping, it is some of the best fun you can have on bf2 especially when you are on a streak and just popping off the headshots one by one. I myself don't use claymores as they annoy the shit out of me and usually kill team mates, chek my stats for proof.

I hate noob snipers, who:
1-defecate claymores everywhere and don't use the rifle at all
2-cant hit shit to save their lives, but ALWAYS use the noob cannon, aka m95. So even if they suck badly at sniping and miss a headshot on a prone, not moving target 40 meters away, you are still unable to do anything. You cant even run down a stairs because you are down to 2 bars of life. And that muppet will 100% have a kill assist.

edit: forgot n.3
When they are in close quarter (wich happens a lot because they just run randomly around the map to find the ultimate roof to camp), they dont pull off the pistol or the knife, but a fkin claymore.
Im not that kind of sniper, do i get a cookie?

So I don't care what you say any more. If you hate snipers, you either have been playing with some lousy ones, or you don't understand the kit. Simple.
QFT.

Why would I waste my claymore on some spot I'm not going to be at.  The claymore is an early warning system that someone knows where you are.  If I climb a building I usually put both of them on/near the ladder.  If the first one goes off, I move to a new location.  Most people will try to come back, only to find the second claymore.  I never just leave the claymore at a random spot.

And the only time I've dropped them in 1v1 is when I already had it out because I was going to set it and someone surprised me.  Sort of like throwing your medic bag at the baddies!

A good sniper may not capture a lot of flags, but  I'm usually watching over you when you are capturing a flag.  And when I tell you that armor is coming you better get the hell outta there.  Learn to watch the mini-map kiddies!

Yes, I respect good snipers who can reliably kill moving targets at long ranges. It happens very rarely to get headshotted while running/jumping from big distances. When that happens, I know there is that single good sniper out there and I change my tactic for that round.
And I respect snipers who can defend themselves in qcb without kamikaze-claymores.

But my disgust for the average sniper grows everyday.
I wat just playing some rounds on Ghost Town and it was horrible.
ALWAYS 2 or 3 snipers on the tower in the plaza, and always 3 or 4 on the upper convoy spawn, near the Igla.
YOu know they are there, you know they can't hit shit, but that area is off-limit until your commander arty their noob asses.
Sometimes I get a dragunov just for the fun of killing 5 of them with a single clip.
Usually they are too idiot to see how half of their body is poking out in the sky, while they think to be invisible on the edge of a roof.

Snipers are cool, i just wish the would get rid of the bloody claymores.
I love to play as sniper and find somebody who is decent enough to give me a sniper fight, one of the most fun things in bf2.

I mostly don't shoot people  if i know i won't make a headshot, but when i do and hes at low live i mostly quickly pull my pistol and end him.

in close quarters: most people go down to the ground to shoot you so jump over him and pull a grenade (and ofc drop it) and then run away, i almost never do that but it works like 70% of the time, i almost always just pull my pistol and aim for the head.

and clay mores, i mostly drop 1 in front of me and 1 behind me when i found a good spot, and when one of them is gone i move to an other spot and hope i not be followed and else i go up a stairs and then  stand of the edge of the roof so i can shoot people of the ladder, most people forget they can jump of the ladder and shoot me....

as you can read I'm not the most skilled sniper, I'm mostly medic or support
