Currently I have a 70G HD which hasn't been partitioned (actually, there is a system partition, but the C drive is still in the main part of it), so how do I partition my hard drive so that it has more than one partition and so I can place my system files in a partition of its own?

Any help would be appreciated.

The first thing to understand is that this is, mostly likely, going to require you to complete re-format your HDD and lose all installed programs and data. So BACKUP FIRST!

Well, you can get apps that will allow you to re-partition without re-formatting, but re-partitioning is an inherently risky process and it is generally better to wipe the slate clean and partition from the start to get things setup the way you want them.
