I had to have three trial's for contacts at my opticians before they let me have contacts, as I just could'nt do it, it was really frustrating.

Best thing to do is not let yourself get nervous, stay calm and do it slowly, once it's in its real easy to get out.
Simply press your finger onto the centre of your eye, and drag down, the lens will fold and you can blink it out.

Good luck  mate.

For the first couple of days (or weeks), it takes a lot to put them in.  I remember when I first got contacts (about 12 years ago) it took me like 45 minutes to put each one in.  It takes a while, but you get used to them.

I do.

I absolutely couldn't stand getting water on my glasses. They would always be dirty as hell, but whenever I got water on them it would piss me off to no end. Contacts took a long time to get useful, but now I can be in the rain without a problem.

Is there anything in particular that could help me get over touching my eye and that sort except for putting my face into a bowl of water with my eyes wide open?
A mate on MSN just gave me the words that if i want them badley enough i should be able to force it on myself in 1 run

I work at an eye clinic, it just takes practice dude.  Go in and I'm sure that wherever you got your prescriptions from, they will help you put them in.  Once you get it down you're good to go.

the first time i got contacts, about 10-14 years ago( can't remember), was for the girls too, the first times it's strange but you get a lot better in time, it's just the training. two things thou, first be in practice when your drunk and try to take them out and second, even a bigger deal, don't fall a sleep with them(especial when you had a great night) your sights turn blue and your eyes get all sticky... smile ....
but after all we're all victims of love right... smile... have fun

I use soft contact lenses.  I've used hard contact lenses.  I've already tried probably 4 different brands.  The acuview 2 soft contact lenses are the best.

I've been using contacts for 7 years and its great, I hate having glasses, the fact that something on my face really irritates me.

i have contact lenses, go them for the same reasons, and much alike you i feared putting them in, theirs really no way around it, the only thing you can do is face your fears and stick your finger in your eye, i can however tell you that after like 3 weeks you dont even notice your doing it anymore and it becomes much much easier

like anything else it's practice.

the more you touch your eyes the less it will hurt.

just have to grit your teeth and do it. practice putting them on and taking them out once a day, instead of being like most lazy people and leaving them in when you go to sleep.

Only reason I'd get contacts is cause it makes getting sunglasses a lot less expensive. But I'm EXTREMELY squeamish with anything near my eyes. If I wasn't so squeamish I'd probably get them in a heartbeat.

Only other option is laser eye surgery, and I don't like that either cause you have to be awake while they do it and they lift up this flap they make from your cornea or something... eugh

Guess it's either man up and get used to contacts or pay extra for glasses lenses the rest of my life...

you just ditch into your eye and get those buggers out or in, do that a few times and you'll get the hang out of it. no big deal.... it's just like bungee or sky jumping, takes a second and you'll get used to it.... practice is all...

He he, good luck and just go for it. I've told you before (I think), if you want it go for it. Like all these guys are saying, you'll get used to it.

I wear contacts.

I never did have any trouble touching my eye.
All I can suggest is wet your finger with some luke warm water and just keep touching your eye, and keeping your finger on it, and not think about it.

When I put my contacts in, I don't reall yhave to touch my eye, they just kinda suck into place. But when I take them out, you have to touch your eye and pinch out the contact. So just keep trying.

A simple excercize is to try and touch the white of your eye. It doesen't hurt, no nerves there.

I know exactly what you are talking about!  I started out with your same problem: just couldn't touch my eyes at all.  Took me 3 separate appointments, each with multiple tries, until I was finally able to get them in my eyes and take them out comfortably.  Just takes some patience, with practice, you'll be popping in your contacts and it'll be easier than tying your shoes!
Anyways, started out with the daily contacts, the ones you had to put in and take out everyday (with the pair lasting about 3 weeks).  I remember falling asleep with them in a couple of times and to sum it up, it sucked.  It was so hard to pull them off of my eye.  So I eventually "upgraded" to the Night and Day contacts, and I love them!  No more worries about falling asleep with them on, and you save a lot of solution and really don't use a case at all.  I just love only having to put in my contacts every month instead of everyday!

For you, XanKrieger, and anyone else interested, here's the product site:
