Advantages, you don't have glasses on your face.  You can see well everywhere, instead of of just the glass ( it makes a difference ).

Disadvantages, you have to take them in and out but once you get good its no big deal.  You also have to make sure you clean them well because eye infections = teh sux..

You aint alone Brother...

Why i want them most of all is admitably for a Girl yet again, but i'm also taking up some new sports such as Boxing and Hand to Hand combat (CQC) which i pretty obvisously wont do to well with my glasses, plus they'd go nice with my planned "new look"

Only disadvantage i see is my Eye-touchy-feely problem

You get over the eye thing.

I used to spend 20 minutes each morning putting them in, but it gets easier.  The moment I 'got it' is when I finally got over the look-away-something-is-gonna-poke-u-in-the-eye reflex (not it's medical name :p).  Stare straight at the lens on your finger and keep those eyelids out of the way.  The lens will 'mould' to your eye before you even touch it with your finger if u do it right.

As for taking them out... hold each eyelid open wide with your fingers, then press against your eye and pinch your eyelids shut.  All being well it'll pop the lens straight out.  No finger-eye contact needed.

I use daily disposables.  Go for these to 'learn' with...  way more hygienic.  In practice the 'keep them in for a month' lenses are a bit troublesome after wearing for more than a couple of weeks (at least for me).  They get more uncomfortable as time goes on, and I'm sure there must be some kind of build up on them as I start seeing halos around street lights and the like (or is it the drugs???).  Try them, but once you get used to putting them in and out I'd save the long term wearing ones for holidays (great for camping) and stuff like that.

Good luck!

I've had and worn both contacts and glasses (each have their benefit) for more than 20 years now, but you really do get used to it.  To this day I still use both hands.  I use my left hand to hold my upper lid open, and my right hand to hold the lower lid open, except for the index finger on which the lens is placed.  Then gently lay the lens on the eye.  You don't even have to fully touch your eye, as the contact will almost suction on when you get it up close.  I can put both lenses in within 3-4 minutes, and that includes cleaning.

yup thats my style too but i look up while i do it, way up, almost like my eye rolls to the back of my head. for me its easier to place the contact on the white of my eye and blink it in place. the main reason i like contacts is peripheral vision, youll realize how nice it is to be able to see out the corner of your eye, especially while driving.

I'm going to buy myself some really freaky contancts and wear them at work. Something like cat eyes or even coloured contacts that made everything black.
Heh heh heh. I'll probably be fired.

By the way XanKrieger, talk to Kung Jew, he works in the field of eye stuff.
