Im buying a new pc soon and theres two types of corsair ram im considering the corsair 2gb pc-5300 667mhz value select ram for $337 aus$ or 2gb corsair xms2 pc-5300 667mhz for $100 more what are the differences in performance between these types of ram. +1 for helpful posts.
basically the xms2 is compatible with future releases and is able to run dx10 alot better.
im probaly not going to get dx10 for ages so is that the only differnce between them? because i think there is probaly more i was thinking load speeds faster or somthing along those lines.
I am no expert on RAM, but if there bothing running at 667mhz there will be little difference (if any) they probably have different timings.

the timings will be key.
I would guess the value stuff will be CL5 and the XMS2 stuff will be CL4. The XMS2 will be of higher quality as well and will overclock better. If you're not planning on overclocking at all you can probably bump the timings up at stock on the value stuff and get the same performance.
What CPU are you running? If it's a C2D then try to get 800MHz stuff, it'll make a big difference. If you're running an AM2 setup then don't bother, it's not worth it.

Xms2
both of them are ddr2 because ddr only goes up to 400. value select has worse timings and generally should be avoided. I own the xms2 stuff and can't complain.
