Newegg.com offers the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB Serial ATA II Internal Hard Drive, model no. ST3500630AS, for $209.99. Apply coupon code "EMC109SGATE7200" and it falls to $139.99. With free shipping, that's $16 off our last mention and the lowest total price we've seen. This 3.0Gbs drive operates at 7200 rpm and features a 16MB cache and five-year warranty. Lets see someone top that...lol

Those damn Seagates last forever too, I've had a 400Gb External drive that's been through war. I might just grab one of those while they're so cheap, you can never have enough storage, right?

damm. if only i lived in the us. i hate it here when it comes to hardware
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I've never seen the point in buying hard drives that size. You could get 2 250GB drives at the same specs for that price in the UK (and stuff in the UK is usually very expensive compared to the US because of the exchange rate). 2 250GBs in a striped array is better than a 500GB disk anyday and running 4 hard drives for a total of 1TB storage, which is enough.

Large capacity drives aren't worth the premium you pay for them.

(I run 2x250GB RAID0 + 2x300GB, and I've got a 2x120GB lying around to be pluged into external SATA ports if I run out of space (which I do, often))

nice, I would buy it but I live in holland

200 GB isn't enough really, I could use 500

30 GB Friends collection
20 GB South Park collection
40 GB personal stuff (music, programs, etc)
10 GB porn
30 GB games
20 GB program files

That's 150 gigs of stuff already, and at the rate I download stuff I'll be full up soon

What about Samsung SpinPoint T166 500GB If you need such a huge storage?
It's about 125€ in germany and 135€ in Austria, so should be about the same in Holland!
And Samsung produces neat drives also, as we know.

That's 65 USD dollars for 250 gb equivalent. Ive seen one close but it was not the same specs. 139 bucks for 500 GB is not exactly a premium price.

A drive like that I use strictly for storage. (Removable Mass Storage)

I have 1.8 TB...lol

That is cheap.  I got both of my 250Gb Seagates for around the $80 mark.

It's worth it if you're out of SATA/PATA connecters and you need to give up a smaller drive each time you want to get more space.
