Civil engineering, but its maths 1a. The test is on basic algebra and shit like that.... fuck I cant remember shit anyways.AussieReaper wrote:

Lol, you do civil engineering too? You sir, are awesome.KuSTaV wrote:

Minty, what difference is there between commerce and engineering in terms of math?
Those last 3 topics had solid fucking hard calculations, and were also very abstract..Partial differentiation and applications, vector algebra, double integrals, ordinary differential equations, introduction to vector field theory, extrema of functions of 2 variables, matrices and their applications, Laplace transforms, Fourier series, partial differential equations and their solution for selected physical problems.
I don't have to do that subject at all, since I've done the engineering maths..This course examines: mathematics of finance: (compound interest, present value, annuities); matrix algebra: (operations with matrices, determinants, matrix inverse, rank, solutions to matrix equations); the graphical approach to linear programming; calculus: (univariate differentiation, maxima and minima of a function, functions of several variables, partial derivatives, unconstrained and constrained optimisation) and the applications of the above concepts and techniques in accountancy and economics, including the use of spreadsheet computer programs.
Assumed Knowledge: A level of knowledge equivalent to achieving a mark of at least 60 in HSC Mathematics.

Ahh right. Nice..mcminty wrote:

The difference is hilarious. The maths I did in 2nd year was along the lines of this:Those last 3 topics had solid fucking hard calculations, and were also very abstract..Partial differentiation and applications, vector algebra, double integrals, ordinary differential equations, introduction to vector field theory, extrema of functions of 2 variables, matrices and their applications, Laplace transforms, Fourier series, partial differential equations and their solution for selected physical problems.
Where as the course outline for Quantitative Methods A (the maths subject people have to take in commerce) states:I don't have to do that subject at all, since I've done the engineering maths..This course examines: mathematics of finance: (compound interest, present value, annuities); matrix algebra: (operations with matrices, determinants, matrix inverse, rank, solutions to matrix equations); the graphical approach to linear programming; calculus: (univariate differentiation, maxima and minima of a function, functions of several variables, partial derivatives, unconstrained and constrained optimisation) and the applications of the above concepts and techniques in accountancy and economics, including the use of spreadsheet computer programs.

Oh right. I havent seen much of Timmmmah these days.... explains a lot really.AussieReaper wrote:
Timmmah is due to finish his engineering degree soon.
Ask him for pro-tips on not studying but still doing well.
hint: cheating.
Nice to see you are thinking of career options.Rod Foxx wrote:
Hmmm, so quite a few people doing engineering up in here. Mechatronics for me. Just so i can build a robot in second year
