What sound does a hard drive make before it fails?

I've been mucking around in my computer alot lately trying to get my puter to POST correctly so I could have possibly done something (although I really doubt it) but anyway one of my hard drives sounds like a fuckin cricket right now? I've tried rebooting & even made sure it wasn't loose or installed wrong. My big Seagate external drive has recently failed so the odds of another drive failing are like super slim unless Alienware bothced the install in the first place but I think I'm scared. I've spent HOURS organizing my porn collection by keywords & genre & I dont wanna lose it & like I said my big external drive failed (or is in the process of failing, can't use it for more than 5 minutes without it crashing) so I can't back it up. Anyone ever have a drive fail? Did it give you any warning?
I have Norton Protection Center with that disk check thing & it's not giving me any errors when I run it.

on my second comp my HDD started to make som weird clicking noises at the end. i experinced similar problems like you do.couldnt use it for moren then 5 min or so before it crashed..!
my sollution was to by a new comp,but i guess could be several reasons,i dont know.im not a tech-head,purhaps some of the more gifted members in here can help?!

Recovery Software FTW!!! Or you can try making it into a slave drive and manually recover stuff maybe?

Solution: Turn off Computer. Buy new HDD from newegg with another computer. Install HDD. Format in NTSC, and copy over porn collection.
