300gb sata
PD 3.0
x600 256mb.
1 gig of ram (1000mhz?)

Unchangable mobo. (Damn HP, i think)

I want to upgrade something.. Seeing that my current setup runs BF2 all on high with little to no lag, I've been eyeing a 1.86 C2D.

Do you think that will spike my proformance overclocking or should i get a 2gb ram set?

I heard the C2D 1.86 is easily overclockable to 2.6 (:

What are you thoughts?

I have a 1.86GHz C2D, it doesn't need any overclocking, it's pretty fast. Anyways, I'm not gunna risk overclocking my processor.

The E6300 will reach about 3.5GHz from 1.86GHz. Depends on what FSB your MB can handle. 2.6GHz should be easy.

Unless you're going to get the next generation PC Games of 2007, more memory will be best.

You ALWAYS need more memory, always

I'd go for the C2D chip though, also your video card blows ass, I can say this because I owned one for 2 years & played a good bit of BF2 on it before upgrading.....it's horrid, so try to put some change aside for a new gfx card soon, it'll work until then but it really is a bad card for gaming. I think it was made for like watching TV on MCE PC's & stuff like that

More RAM. Then a better vid card.

And try and keep CPU under 120F or 50C.

800x600 on a 21" lcd? And you want to waste money on a c2d? oh man

Tell you what, turn it up to 1600x1200 (what your 21" LCD *should* be working in for best clarity) and just go on a map and look how much nicer it is- ok I know youll stutter about and itll be hard to move but just stand still and compare the difference to your bitty old 800x600, take screenshots to compare - then go and spend money on a card that will get you 35fps in 1600x1200, which isnt a big deal these days, it shouldn't cost much more than a pair of enthusiast ram strips either.

As well as looking lush with 4 times the amount of screen realestate, youll be able to pull off those pixel perfect shots like you never could before (unless you have a crap mouse or DTs after a bender or something).
