Bf2 crashes to desktop after clicking on a server

I have been playing bf2 for over a yr. not any problems untill today. I start the game log in click on any server and it crashes. Any one know what to do?
I called EA.. they didnt help.
Single player works though.

Reinstall and/or Repatch. You don't lose anything, your password & fav servers are still there if you don't delete them at the end of the uninstall.
I know the actual reason for this, I read about it all the time but my burnt out brain fails me right now. Gimme a minute to look around & I'll be back.

*Edit:* Please post your computer specs when you have a tech problem. I'm not being a dick but it helps alot sometimes & it doesn't hurt the rest of the time.

*Edit2:* Your not even getting the map loading screen, right? As soon as you actually click on a server in the list it just CTD's?

That was happening to me last night, I didn't bother with it because I was getting a new computer today.
But I turned on my [old] computer today and BF2 worked fine even though I had the same problem out of no where like you did.
Just try reset your computer...worked for me

thanks and yes as soon as i click its like i clicked the quit buttom
(sorry i never have had a problem before but i have a ATI Radeon x 850 pro graphics card , a hp work station with 3 gigs of ram comp is from 2003

Reinstalling/repatching worked for me. I had this problem two weeks ago, and not a single CTD since, knock on wood....

ok im reinstalling ... it gets to disc three then stops at this

ouch.....try cleaning your disc it's probably scratched or something (outward motions, not circular like most people do, in case you didn't already know).
if you still can't get it to work & you don't want for EA to send you a new disc (after you send the ruined one of course ) then a last resort is to try & find a disc image online but unfortunately I don't think I'm allowed to tell you where or how to do that on these forums. Just Google.

I had that problem the very first time I installed BF2 though & it worked eventually. make sure everything is updated driver-wise & get the latest DX9 version, I know you've probably already done that before you uninstalled BF2 in the first place but it can't hurt, reboot & try again.....and again. If it still doesn't clear the registry & temp files & try again.

*Edit:* Even if your BF2 never works again at least your windows is a pretty peach color so it'll be ok

its doing this again and i cleaned the cd and it wont work
