The most important question is, of course: How much are you willing to spend?

Do you just need a base unit or do you need monitor, mouse, keyboard etc?

If it's just a base unit you need, how about this:

From Overclockers.co.uk

Tiny bit over budget - you could always only get one hard drive, but having them in RAID makes a big difference.

Whats the P5N like for OCing? If it's good then I'd agree with that lot and say OC the CPU, 3.4GHz+ is easy just on good air cooling. Maybe cheaper case better gfx card, and a 380w PSU worries me a bit.

The 650i chipset it uses is very good for OCing. I've run a 7600GT with a 939 3700+ San Diego (OC'd) with that exact PSU with no problems whatsoever.

3.4GHz on stock cooling with that PSU would be inadvisable, though probably achievable. I'd aim for around the 2.6GHz mark, putting it about on par with a FX-62.

Hopefully that link is working.....  My spec for you came in at £644.15.  Course, you could chop and choose the parts, e.g different case, and cheaper GPU (which btw that specific model should plumit in price very soon).

I would expect it to breeze through 2142.

Fair does, just seemd a bit underpowered to me but if it works it works

All in all looks like a good buy, I'd go with that. (buy this later and OC the bitch. Mates e6600 hit 3.7GHz without a problem under that thing).

Nice. A bit pricey though.

My E6300 hits 3.5GHz with this:

which is about half the price.

Pretty similar. Made me realise I haven't included a DVD drive - d'oh!

So brings the rig I spec'd out up to about the same price. But crappier PSU and better RAM and HDD setup.

Much bigger fan and its all copper, plus it's got blue LEDs which adds a couple of pounds lol, thing is fucking huge! Fits in perfectly though, designed really well, rises out just far enough to line up with your rear case fans to use those as extra venting, creats a kinda wind tunnel effect round the fins, takes all the heat straight out the back of the case.

considering the core clock speed of the 6300EE is 1.86 ghz, i think you're full of it.. there is no fan out there to allow you to overclock a cpu to DOUBLE its intended speed

And I think you're retarded, but hey.

Not the highest speeds I've reached, but the best I have screenies of.

It gets pretty hot at 3.5GHz (upto about 50C under load) - typically I run it at 2.8GHz to save the CPU from all that stress.

I would get the 7900GS instead of the 7600GT because it has 24 pipelines instead of 12, but that's just my own option.

What are you talking about?

The 7600GS has 12 pixel pipelines, the same as the GT. The GS is cheaper, because it is a clocked down version of the GT with slower memory (GDDR2 rather than GDDR3).

The 7600GS is a slower, budget alternative.

*edit*
D'oh - scrap that. I thought you wrote 7600GS, as you can probably tell.

It's quite a bit more expensive and he's already over budget. It'll run BF2 on high and DX10 cards will be plumeting in price soon.

P5B I think.

But that doesn't get such good FSBs as the new 680i boards. FSB OCs > multiplier OCs.
