PCI express sound cards

So I'm kinda new to the whole hardware thing, I just built my first pc but when I say built a friend who has been doing it for about 10 years sat down and held my hand through it and then pretty much put it together for me. Well I went out to get a sound card because I still needed one of those and after doing the research figured bam, an xfi extreme music was the way to go. So I bought it, got home, and tried to install it. Then being a dumbass realized I didn't have a slot it would fit in. There PCI and I've got a PCI express slots so I was wondering what you guys might recommend me getting now for a sound card since that whole line is out. My mobo just so you know is a Lan partyUT cfx3200-DR

Is this your motherboard

If it is, the 3 slots after the 2 PCIEx16 for the video cards should all accomodate your sound card. They are PCI, so unless they are taken, I suggest slotting you soundcard in there. Btw, the two small slots in between the two PCIEx16 slots are the PCIEx1 i think you may be a bit mixed up

ya that is my board and the card isn't fitting in them...they were the first slots I tried. Well I'll try it again though. be back in a second. Thanks for all your help guys +1's to all

Dont blame me if you crack your mobo - could be worse - could be a stock C2D heat sink & fan install

lol...it is official I am a dumbass. I won't tell you guys what i did wrong but its in now. so off to do the drive install thing. THanks for all the help...oh and I was putting it in the right way to.

I just did that with my CPU on my new mobo. It's really not hard to miss either
The arm went up so I figured I could just drop my processor right in & thought wtf?
