Speaking of hard difficulty nintendo 8-bit games I still think "Ghosts n Goblins" was the hardest to complete for that system.
Holy crap, the checkpoints were so far apart in the latter stages it was almost impossible to advance past the half way point. If you died mid way through the checkpoint you'd start all the way at the stage level beginning.
