I'm considering getting a 2nd gfx card & I have a few questions I was hoping someone here could answer.

1) Are graphics cards like RAM in that I would have to get the exact same card to be able to run in SLI? I mean same brand & everything? Or is an 8800 an 8800, period?

2) If the answer to #1 is no, does anyone know where to get a Raw 8800GTX, without any cooling fan/heatsink on it (I want to water cool them so it would suck to pay extra for a heatsink & I can easily remove the heatsink from the one I have)

3) This might sound kind of dumb but would having 2 cards disburse the heat more than having one? Electricity is one thing that I know absolutely nothing about & I don't care to know any more than I have to because I hate working with it. I was just thinking though, my single card runs idle @ 62C - 65C but I'm thinking maybe since one single card wouldn't have to do so much work that they would both run cooler, maybe?

4) I found a PSU that would end up being $280 with instant reduction, I know it obviously has enough power to run 2 8800GTX's in SLI but does anyone know if it's any good in the quality, dependability area?   Athenatech XF Xtreme Force PS-09WXF ATX12V

If that PSU isn't that good could you maybe recommend one please?

I did search for this stuff elsewhere because I'm starting to feel like I should be paying you guys for how much you help me but couldn't find much...
Thank you very much even if you can only answer one (or none at all if you ever read this).

Well, I run a Sli rig with a Leadtek 8800GTX and a Asus 8800GTX without any problems. On my other rig I have a MSI 7900GTX and a océd Leadtek 7900GTX... the system is running pretty fine, altough the Leadtek´s speed is downclocked via BIOS to the level of the MSI...

hey.
1.you have to get the same card... or the 8800 that is clocked faster will be slow down.. try to get the same brand....

2. if you have a good case with a few fans... stock cooling will be good enough.(no need to over clock 2 8800s!!!)

3. each card might run a little cooler but the over all effect in your case will be hotter.....

4. try to get a supply that is SLI certified...      (will have the little SLI logo next to pictures..)
