I recently bought a razer Tarantula, I bought it from newegg.com with next day air shipping I was so stoked to get it. Those of you who are not familiar with this keyboard please see here; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 823114001.

I will not be posting pics, at least ATM there are plenty of images on the net not to mention I'm in the midst of a move. When I first got the keyboard I was super-stoked, I was in the middle of playing BF2 while I was waiting on it. Finally it had arrived, I rushed to the door to sign for my package, I said wo0t to the FedEx guy as he handed me the package.

I then proceeded to unwrap my new keyboard, I was pretty surprised by the way they package this thing. It's very neat and organized, it definitely ensures that the keyboard doesn't get messed up during the shipping process. I took it apart and proceeded to hook it up, it has a wire to hook your mic and speakers up to your sound card as well as two USB plugs, Primary/slave USB connections.

Looking at the keyboard at first glance is pretty amazing, it's very large sticks to the desk very well, the keys are very crisp and clean, there is virtually no play in the keys at all. The customizable keys are friggin' awesome. I can launch teamspeak/winamp/xfire etc at the press of a button, there are LOADS of customizable settings to use, you can even program custom macros. I have it set where I have scroll lock + X in one keystroke so I can respond to my mates xfire messages very rapidly while I'm gaming.

One thing that really pisses me off about the keyboard is; the keyboards are so stiff when the keyboard is new. It's very hard to adjust to this when you're in a FPS game, getting fragged all the time really gets old.  So I didn't play BF2 for a few days and picked up instant messaging pretty hardcore to kinda wear the keys in.  It's still a bit hard to type now and again, but not near as bad as I first got it, the only key that gives me trouble is the most important, which would be the 'w' key, it's hard to keep running it likes to stop in the midst of running or not even start to sprint at all when I double-tap the key.

The keyboard like I said before is beautiful, and I'm sure once I wear it in I'll love it even more, it's very sleek and adds a perfect accent to my setup with my plasma diamondback and PRO PAD mouse pad. I would recommend buying it, after these small quirks get worked out it's gonna be pretty badass. Not to mention the blue lights really set the keyboard off, the razer logo dims and brightens about every 5 seconds, pretty sweet IMHO.

I've been kind of skeptical of it because I read some bad reviews (not that I need a new keyboard anyway) but it's nice to read a review by someone who's probably doing 90% of the same stuff I'd do with it, maybe next time I get a new system, thanks for the review. +1
Lemme know if you get used to it in BF2 though, it took me a week to get used to using my G15 for BF2, more from having extra buttons than anything else though.

Stiff keys? Are you being serious? If so i think you really need to work on building up your strength coz mine were/are as soft as a hot girls ass since the day I got my tarantula. Apart from that nice review

G15 is a £9.99 keyboard with a £35 LCD screen stuck to it.

So do you agree with the OP about the "W" key. Does it stop working half way through walking? This would be an important factor in whether I buy one of these as I had a microsoft keyboard that did this and it made vehicles really annoying.

Never had a single problem with mine, i even lost my rag last night, punched it repeatedly til my hand was bleeding and threw it at a wall (I have anger issues it seems) the keys didnt even come off and it still works perfectly lol, not a scratch.

That's good to know. On the old keyboard I had if you were pressing W after a while it would switch off and you'd have to take your finger off and then press W again. Made flying awkward, and getting tanks up a hill was a nightmare.

lol I can imagine, mines the UK layout version which was released a lot later than the US and German layout ones, so maybe mines had the glitch that miscfinguration is getting on his one ironed out, if mine has had any bugs fixed on it i'd figure there would be a firmware update for the older modles available.

The other possibilty is he's just got slow USB ports, USB 1.1 gets saturated with the sheer ammount of data current razer hardware throws out, that'd cause it to jam every now and then with a constant stream of data.

The key's are starting to wear in, after a few days of avid playing/typing I can see a difference I'm not having much issue with the 'w' key as often. I think this keyboard just need a little RLC (rough loving care) to get it set straight. I never would have expected the keys to be as soft as they're getting right now. MUUUCH better, thanks for reading guys!

Worth the money, that's what I'd call it, it's quality gear.

I had a £9.99 logitech bargain bucket PoS keyboard before this Tarantula, it's the same keyboard as a G15 without the screen, my bro uses a G15 so i know, he was fucking livid when i put the 2 side by side and he realised he just paid an extra £45 for a flip up screen he has yet to use.
