Hi techies.

New problem to add to my extensive list!

I did a fresh reformat after my login icon disappeared. (Windows repair didn't work).

Everything is working perfectly now EXCEPT for this:

when I to install SOME programs from cd's and dvd's i get this "1335 error".

After some research on google it is supposedly a problem with the disk, and I know it's not that because it has happened with more than one.

What is strange is that Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 work, my Creative mp3 player software installation worked.

BUT... Microsoft Office 2003 didn't work (then randomly did), Need for Speed Most wanted doesn't work, Far Cry doesn't work, my Nokia phone suite didn't work (then randomly did).

So what I want to know is.....is there something wrong with my drive?  Windows installer problems?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'll second that.  Sounds like a drive that is on its last leg.

1) Copy all the files off the CD onto your harddrive. Run the setup from there

2) Re-install/Update your CD-Rom drivers, especially since you just reformatted

3) Change your memory settings for installation:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type msconfig, and then click OK.
3. On the BOOT.INI tab, click Advanced Options.
4. In the BOOT.INI Advanced Options dialog box, select the /MAXMEM= check box, and then change the setting to 256 (or lower if your computer has less RAM).
5. Click OK to close the BOOT.INI Advanced Options dialog box.
6. In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Apply.
7. Click OK to close the System Configuration Utility dialog box.
8. Click Restart
9. After you restart your computer, install Office as a Complete Install.
10. After you install Microsoft Office, follow steps 1 through 8 to clear the /MAXMEM= check box

Got a laser lens cleaner disk? That could clear it up.

No updates for my drive.

I tried the copying the files onto my hd  (which was a great idea) but....I got the same error, which is strange.

I think it could be something to do with windows installer?
