.. so installed 2142 in my "EA Games" folder (default, "electronic arts" - I hated having 2 folders which are the same thing basically just with different games.

I spent hours downloading the 1.2 Patch for BF2142 and what do you know.. "cannot find 2142 directory" once I finished downloading and started installing.

Any ideas?! !?!

lool... you need to uninstall and search for any bf2142 install related file that hasnt been uninstalled and delete it then start again it sucks ive had to do the same for other games before.

I think somewhere in your registry there's an entry that says what the install folder is. You'd have to edit that. *This was the case in BF2*

I don't know the entry's location off my head though =/

well, i un-installed it. but to save me redownloading i saved my cache folder. oh, but something had to go wrong. it wouldn't re-install. so i did a manual removal of all 2142 and then tried again. nope.

now i have to redownload all 2gb from ea downloader ;( eta: 2 hours, 16 minutes and 09 seconds. Well whoop-de-doo..

i've played bf2 for over 6 months nub.
edit/ and you're 200 hours of karkand compared to your next most played map, with 21 hours..

update/

i contacted ea support, no reply yet. I deleted everything 2142 related AGAIN and when I try to run the installer it can't find setup.exe. Great. So I'm clearing cache for the third time and downloading the entire 2GB again! If this doesn't work, I may have to reformat.

Kyle, have you got a registry cleaner? You need to go into there and remove ALL traces of 2142 before installing the DL version. Regedit would be ok, or something a bit more up to date.

What you need to do to get it working. Is wipe everything. All folders by EA. So no EA crap on ur HD.

Then insert the BF2 disk install. Then patch to 1.41. There you are sorted.

Oh ok. Format pc. Then install DX9 and install BF2, then patch it. Also consider SF then play it. Good game. For 2142 try putting it through a shredder. Will make the gameplay better
