With a stick figure fight, it's not too difficult.  Only one part of the body is usually moving.  So you'd make your base character, make it a symbol, then motion tween each part that moves ON SEPERATE LAYERS.  So if the whole guy goes flying across the screen and then punches the other guy, you'd motion tween his body symbol across the screen, while on ANOTHER layer you would motion tween the symbol of his arm so that it stretches and warps and hits the guy, yet moves with the orginal twening of his body.  Finally on another layer, you would tween the symbol of the other guy to move according to how he was punched.  My bet is that the whole movie only took like 4 to 6 layers with tons of tweening on each one.  Then you just add one more layer and add the sounds at the appropriate times.

Do you know how to use flash?  If you do, it shouldn't be too hard, just time consuming.  Plus learn to use the shortcut keys for actions such as insert keyframe, test movie, etc.  I can't begin to stress how much time this will save you.
