For me, I'm only in a squad because I need it to get ribbons and badges. A 100 hours of being a squad member takes a really long time to get. So when I get commands, I'm usually far away from the squad so I just click deny. This was smart for EA to do because if we want certain medals, they force us to work as a team! I had 30 hours of lone wolf before I realized i needed commander and team minutes. Don't get me wrong, I can be a team player very well....but seeing how i'm not in a clan and just in a pub, I rather be accountable for myself and  not watch someone else's hide.

I ALWAYS press "page up" , but follow the command only if I consider it to be sound for the victory of my team

I only press page down because all the commanders I ever get want my squad to attack flag furthest away from our position, and then he drops our damn car to another squad, who is ten metres away from their flag.

All I want is a UAV when I call for one. Is that so damn hard!?!?

I really hate it when people try to kick out commanders just because they're losing. Sometimes they don't realize it's because their lack of skill they're team is losing and not cuz of commander.

being squad leader you can request so many things from your commander like supply drops in armor or uav when approaching a flag/silo. as well in a squad you can use voip which helps tremendously. On bigger maps squad play sometimes isnt as emphasized, though for specialized uses like using voip in a transport, gunship or armor it is still very handy. on smaller maps like gibraltar being in a organized squad can kick ass. you can arrange which flag to take, where to flank from, ask for cover while advancing, get supplies or first aid, call out enemy positions, ask people to respawn for a certain purpose, like AT for a walker thats raping your position or support to refill your nades. all over voip.

i press pgup if the command is a good one, if not i just let it time out.

EDIT: WHOOPS just realized this is a bf2 post. nevermind the post still applies just replace gunship with attack chopper, gibralter with karkand and walker with tank.

I thought u were speaking some  bf slang, and I was just noobish and didn't understand. But got ya. If I encounter a commander not doing his job, I bring along some c4 and have some fun.

I honestly hate getting commands from the CO. It's very irritating due to the fact you have to be completely retarded not to know what to do. The CO should cater to what you are doing, IE. put the UAV where his team is, not the other way around.

Most if the time I'll accept orders, but sometimes I'll deny and do my own thing...usually if the order is retarded (me specops repair bridge on other side of map?) or if I'm in the middle of something.  I'm more likely to do my own thing if I'm a squad member.

I will accept the command then finish what I was doing then carry out the Task.....after all I would expect them to do it for me as commander!

If a command give me an order, I usually always press down to say negative because most of the time, it is something stupid like get a flag that I am two feet from.

Yup, I only follow if it is a sound victory.  I also try to follow flag defense orders since he has a UAV and whatnot.

I also follow very active commanders on teamspeak and will do more if they are scannin and spotting

The commander (if he isnt a cunt) has the best overall view of the battlefield, and should be able to use Scan to second guess ze enemy.  He SHOULD then send the nearest available squad to go fuck em up, or go flag-smashing.

I accept and follow orders, as it adds a hint of realism to the game. And I'm far too idle to make decisions for my self.

I don't play as SL very often.
But it depends. If I have a decent squad and the commander isn't a tard, accept and try to do what he says.
If my squad consist of a sniper on a crane and a spec-op on the other side of the map, I ignore the commander and keep doing my business, wich usually is the right thing to do anyway.
If I have a good squad and the commander is a tard, I ignore him.
Real example: Spetz on Surge, my squad was approaching the Command Bunker to cap it and our commander asked for repairs in our uncap, because there was an engi in my squad.

When I'm in a helo 2-men squad I'm squad leader just to ask for supply crates. No need to give me orders, except flag defense. If a team-mate spot the enemy chopper or a tank, I go for it asap. If I see a squad capping a flag, I support them.

Page up, and follow where my squad leader goes

To be honest I don't care anyway..

Depends on commander.. Usually my commander wants me to go to flags which I want to go to so no problem.. I ask for UAV and we go for it. Never bother when my commander wants me to repair something.

I play with my clan, so normally we follow orders but have the time they are shit orders on the far side of the map from you when you are busy taking a flag.

So depends on the commander realy.

Depends on the command. If it's sensible, fair enough. If it's something stupid then he can fuck himself

I have probably played at least ten hours on whatever map I'm on, I know what I need to do to make my team win.

As I usually play in a squad I tend to ignore what the commander says and follow what the squad leader is doing. Whether that is what the CO wants us to do or not. But mostly PG UP anyways then carry on with my own business!

first of all, I try to establish voice contact with commander, so even I don't have UAV he can help me by telling where is someone or spotting. Second, but harder is typing commander, so I know that he cares about situation on BF and is trying to help team. If commander is retarded, I f*ck him and go with my squad alone constantly keeping to talk to my squad, even if it is only laughing for some nice sniper kill, or I thank him for good teamplay, reviving, capping etc... It keeps squad organized. When there is real squad work needed and I see that nobody is following me, I kick them from squad and invite some others... And I like to follow orders from SL and keep moving with him.
