MEH.
Another problem, I am now surprised when things do works, which is turning me into a pessimist! Not good!
Issue:
I have a Cambridge SoundWorks 5.1 surround sound speaker set and a Creative Audigy 2 ZS sound card.
When I moved house the cable for the central speaker got lost...so for the last few years I've been using 4.1.
Last week, I found the cable...WOOO! Plugged it in.....and it works. WOOO!
BUT now the rear two speakers do not work in surround sound games (for example the 'speaker test' on css).
When I go on the creative speaker settings I can test the channels for my speakers; it plays "rear right" and "rear left" through my front two.
The central speaker works properly - when it says "centre", it plays through the centre speaker.
So you think I've wired them wrong. No: I have checked the wiring, and the rear two worked before.
This is where things start to get weird. When on the creative speaker settings I click on calibrate It lets me click where i hear the sounds coming from....and I can hear it coming individually from the rear speakers.
And at the end of the calibrating, it plays music which moves round the speakers in a circle - it works.
Then when I got back on the speaker settings test and the ingame test in counter strike, it still plays the sound through the front two.
------
When I unplug the central speaker I get the same problem on 4.1 (rear sounds playing through the front), this is with the same setup that worked before.
I have tried reinstalling the sound driver. Reinstalling my original driver from disk.
Help!
