The point is...many times, the players who make the greatest difference in a game, usually don't get the credit in points. I can't tell you how many times I have lost games because too many people were obsessed with fluffing their kill ratios, but had no interest in DEFENDING the main base...or defending at ALL.
Preach on, Brother Beatdown.
Some players that won't get medals but can completely turn the tide of games:
- Chopper pilots that pay attention to the map...when their team spots armor, they take it out. Instead of flying around killing every unimportant infantryman that moves, they help the team. Rarely do they finish in the top 3, though. Same goes with jet pilots that work to keep enemy pilots at bay instead of disregarding A2A in favor of the no-talent-required carpet-bombing point whoring.
- Squad Leaders that understand what it means to be a Squad LEADER. They play support, they hang back and let their squad work and act as a mobile spawn point. I've watched a five-person squad own spawn after spawn after spawn by playing smart...and the squad leader finished with barely any points.
- A good Blackhawk pilot (post-patch). One that knows how to get a squad to a spawn, get clear, and then egress his squad quickly when they cap the flag.
- Players that defend main bases and assets, making them available to their commander, and their team as well. They don't usually rack up the points, and SPM suffers, but they win games.
