Its an officers rank but its still a yellow award, the next rank up is the first silver award so I wondered if people thought it was just a good but still noob rank like below it, or if it gains respect from noobs and officers alike?

I consider that "high 1st-Sgts", and SgtMjr's should be the time when players start becoming good and unique. Although this obviously varies with players.
2ndLt is just a lead on from SgtMjr, so it would have to be Junior Officer.

I expect 2ndLt's to be able to hit a BH with a TV, able to use a jet and know how to cap flags - not block runways and force tks for the whole game.

No rank really earns anyone respect in my eyes.  If I play with you, and you're good..........then you get respect.  But I will say in general anyone under the rank of Sgt. Major I often try to stay away from.  For instance, if some gunnery sergeant comes running towards my chopper, I have a tendency to try and take off before he gets there.  Sorry, but it's a matter of my own personal experience, and I don't have time to be a taxi cab ride for people who can't fire a TV missile and hit the broad side of Rosie O's fat ass.

I'm a 2LT...I think I'm pretty good at the game at this point.  I don't block runways and force TK and that noobish shit you'll find in the lower ranks (or even in some of the higher ranks!)

Oh, also, please change the title of the thread if possible. Two questionmarks is pathetic. You may argue that it made me look, but that's because I am also pathetic.

Exactly.  In what was does having a relatively high rank on bf2 earn you respect?  You sit at a computer screen for hours a day, punching keys and clicking your mouse in an effort to get a virtual rank up to a level that simply shows how long you play on the game.  Imagine how much time those guys at the top of the leader boards spen on there each day, not getting out and having a life.   Anyway, I dont really respect those who have high ranks, because its just a video gamne.  It matters not.

if you judge people by their rank, a 2nd LT should start to have a fuckin' clue what it's all about. but actually that yellow looks kinda shitty.

Well i have 2 2nd lt and a 1st lt but i often don't get the chopper red zones on those accounts but i often get spammed bail out on my numerous lower accounts even though i went 54-0 the round before amazes me.

I struggled to choose an option, you see,"noob" isn't a word in my vast vocabulary.

If i'm piloting then i'll always try to take off alone, makes no differance to me if a General or a Private is running at me. I enjoy solo Tving and i can often turn the tide of the game because i don't have a gunner who try's to TV infantry like i did last week...

Usually though I gun,and with me being First Sarge a lot of people have their doubts, but then i start to gun and hopefully they change there minds about me.

I hate people first sergeant or lower cause they have no idea how to play the game >.> I had a general though tell me the other day i was camping and making no attempts to cross the river on karkand in my tank even though i had already made 2 unsuccesful factory captures and i had already captured all the other flags from the hotel to the train station. 2nd Lieutanents a pro rank though!

Convenient how you hate the rank directly below you.

rank = experience

It doesn't neccessarily mean they're better but they're usually more experienced and this is why a higher ranked team almost always wins. Of course it's not a set in stone system of skill.

I'm still over 5 000 points away from 1st Sgt. Doesn't mean I'd suck or be a noob in any way. I see colonels / generals / Lt. Col.s etc. being much more "noobs" than I am.

Rank doesn't mean shit. Except for Sgt. Maj. because then you have all the unlocks.

All depends on what you did to get your points. Medic and Support kits can account for sometimes about 30+% of points. So that's not really skill. I don't like vehicles other than transport to get from point A to B faster, so knowing how to TV in a helo wouldn't be in my field, but being a normal infantry person, I can do better on that. So, in this game, rank means nothing really, because it's based on a point system, not an experience system. If I played Commander for 2000 hours, I can probably get 2LT, no? But hey guess what, I probably never fired a single round either! And you have those generals running around like they are privates, and vice versa.

First Sergeant is about when I start having respect for players now.  Sergeant Major is about the same even tho there is a huge gap in points between the two.  After that, earning the bar of soap earns the courtisy of say, for example sharing a jet or helo depending on observations how they act or what they type in game.  Rank up from there same goes.  Generally the higher rank, the more mature the player usually is.  Of course, sometimes that is untrue, I have my bad days and get pissed at the world and destroy everything in sight.  Rank also constitues how much one plays the game, and not so much skill in some cases.  /rollseyes

But just remember its a GAME.

Rank does matter IMO if it's the person's only account and they fit under the definition of "pubscrub pubnub" as some competitive elitz0rz play3rz call them. In a purely pub environment, I'd tend to favor a General over a Corporal for gunning in my chopper. But since people like to make new accounts to feel good about their stats, you might be leaving behind a CAL-M class chopper gunner just because of his rank.

my highest score account has like 16.5K points
I have two other accounts with over 10K points
i deleted a few others which add up to like 6 thousand

i'm better than most other people if i'm not lagging and hit detection is good that day

I don't consider rank a way of judging skill, although if all the officers are on one team and the lower ranks are on the other the other team generally sucks
but rank is no way to gauge skill

wth did i spell gauge right?
