my mouse(mx518) is just randomly cutting on and off. its not cordless. ive tried every USB port per direct of logitech. ive even tried using a white sheet of paper opposed to my black mousepad(they say that black and woodgrain doesnt pick up as well for optical mice).

as far as i can tell its just random. mainly right before i turn to look at an enemy. but it does it the WHOLE time i play. on/off/on for a few minutes then off for a few seconds(just enough time for the tank to put the last shot on me). is it defective? could it be my mobo connections.

since its caused me to get killed countless times, as soon as i get a replacement, im going to take a picture of its destroyed carcas to show just how much it has pissed me off. its really pissing me off cause i cant even play for a few minutes without it stopping and causing me to die.

It MIGHT be your mobo. Try plugging in another mouse. Does it work? It's probably your mouse then.

does it have drivers?

if so try reinstalling them.

well i had the mx500 or whatever the previous version was without dpi switching. and it worked fine for over a year then it just died. this 518 is relatively new(few months) which is leading me to believe it is defective. im gonna try reinstalling the drivers

sounds like it is defective, mine works with out drivers o.k. if re-installing drivers doe'snt work, sounds like rma time.
as for for surface usage,i've never used a mousepad or anything, always been desktop (woodgrain) no probs.

well after having the dpi switching i dont think i could live without it(turret spinning ftw!). ive reinstalled the drivers and am hesitant to try because i cant afford a new mouse atm. and if it happens once again im going to smash this mouse into a million pieces. gonna go play, will keep informed.

edit: well reinstalling seemed to do the trick for now. just played a few rounds and it didnt do it once. thx for the help. karma for all

edit2: problem still there. cuts off whenver it feels like it
