stalled out barrel rolls (stalling while inverted 1/2 way through the roll) definitely pwn so does hit box manipulation.
Barrel Rolling isn't for noobs, however I can see where your gunner is coming from.
Personally, you should wait for your gunner to fire the TV and then barrel roll, if its already coming at you, fuck your gunner.

i find that the best evade is to act like a bumble bee (but not as slow thou) unpredictable, confusing and slightly out of controll
Its the best move out there if your both trying to tv each other. Its makes it awkward to hit. You're wrong. I repeat you're wrong.Zodiaccup wrote:
Every other move ist better to avoid enemy fire, than doin' a barrel roll. I repeat every.
The most effective move I have experienced is the slide. Especially if you start sliding one way, then slide back the other. I never barrel roll to evade, because you lose too much altitude.
Any manoeuvre you do and I'm in the gunner seat of the enemy chopper, you WILL be shot down no matter what stunt you pull off.
i gave a 14 second lolTerrorisT² wrote:

real heli pilot won't range out he would do anything to evade the missiles, and i have over 10000 ability points and barrel rolls are the best to evade tv missile but a good gunner will hit you no matter what tactics you use to avoid the missiles.Aries_37 wrote:
Best move to evade fire is stay out of range, no gunner can hit you then.

My best evasion is called the Jord turn.
I deploy my flares, turn 130 degrees clockwise fire off all my missles in the enemies general direction and bail out.

Granted you don't have a pilot like me who flies his chopper in an erratic motion (lack of experience on my side) ?TerrorisT² wrote:

As I competent TV gunner; The barrel roll is a good evasive maneuver enemy pilots can do. Other maneuvers can be countered.
people do barrel rolls because it confuses newbs to think its unfair.. its kind of like the chopper equiviliant to Dolphin diving because the chopper will move around so fast that the hitbox lags behind (much like when dolphin diving) so when you shoot ur tv at the actaul chopper it will just go straight through. where you should aim depends on the server most of the time you want to just clip the tail
All that rolling nonsense... never understood it. I absolutely love chopper dog fights where the opposing chopper fires its tv-guided at you, misses, then proceeds to do a shit load of flips and turns that puts them underneath you. My clanmate and I will just patiently sit there until the enemy chopper stops flipping and loses track of where we are(straight up), then he'll shoot them down. It was already said before but the best move is the one that doesn't get you killed in whatever situation. A good gunner is going to hit you 9/10 times no matter what you do. However, rolling or moving around is an easy way to get out of the way of noob-missiles. Something else I've seen that a lot of pilots forget to do... if your gunner is the first to fire the missile, then start moving the second you see the first part of your own missile trail. I've noticed that a lot of pilots feel a need to stay lined up at the target as if they can't move or their gunner will miss.
When people are mid barrel roll for me, i have to aim so far behind them i can't see them in the TV screen (when it actually hits)I.M.I Militant wrote:

And thats with 20-30 ping!
No...this is what kills you.Ajax_the_Great1 wrote:
The best evasion techniques are the ones where you change direction quick. It's like evading a sniper. You don't run in a straight line. Barrel rolls make you move in a predictable motion and if they know where to shoot they're going to hit you.
Granted, barrel rolls work great in pubs.
The collision model doesn't move as vast as the visual model...so if you quickly change direction, it's almost like hovering there. Sure, your visual model moved fast and is hard to hit, but the collision model lags behind so it's easy to hit.
The best way to avoid enemy TV missles is to have more altitude. What I like to do is get high and if another missle is coming towards me, roll 90 degrees and go full throttle. It's useless against really good gunners, but most people aren't good enough to kill you that way...they try to hit the chopper itself, not the lagging hitbox, and that is hard to do.
That's what works for me...different things work for different people, but if the gunner is good enough - there isn't anything you can do.
That 'bad gunner' would probably be me...CrazeD wrote:

In my 150+ hours of choppering, i still find rolling the best tactic.
Rolling, in a way, exploits the hit box lag. If an enemy shots a TV straight at you mid roll, 9/10 times you'll survive.
Not only that but its a quick way to move out the way.
However, it does mean you loose altitude, but with a semi-decent gunner that shouldnt be a problem.
EDIT: Oh yeh some one said about back flips. Though they look uber cool, they are kinda useless (unless you wana make some extreme turns). Not only does your chance of crashing into a tree / crane / hill / building sky rocket, but you expose the chopper's belly - a nice large, easy to hit target with relatively good hit detection.
and only sexy people like yourself no where to aim right geney boi NOW COME BAK TO BEDgene_pool wrote:

actually i find it harder to tv a fast strafing chopper, than a barrell rolling one
