wow what a finish that was awsome
I just happened to turn to Fox and watch the last few four or five laps. Neat finish, it was.
such a finish!! incredible. unlucky to mark.
wow what a finish!!! thought mark really had it.
Agree, Dale Jr. is my driver, too. Too bad he didn't win, but at least Chevy took the top 4! Chevy rules! Ford, Dodge, and especially Toyota drool!thareaper254 wrote:

I figured Mark Martin would finally win the Daytona 500. He was finally driving a Chevy.
Yep, got rid of that rotten Rousch Ford. Martin's such a good guy, glad he finally came over from the dark side.
The last lap was awesome.
One of the best Daytona 500's I've seen - great racing the whole time.
NASCAR=Watching a bunch of cars drive in a circle for 5 hours. How does that = fun
the best part of the 500 is watching the F-15's fly around out my window. and the F-22's last year. call me a lil biased, i go to embry riddle aeronautical university, which is on the airport. not to offend people on here, but the hick to normal people ratio this whole week is insane. yea i dont like nascar. planes are a hell of a lot cooler. they're trying to get the red bull air races sponsorship and everything on the scale of nascar, now that would be awesome

You are told to drive 500 miles and at the end, if you make it to the finish line first, you will win over $1 million dollars. You grab your keys and fly out onto the 3 lane interstate with tires squeeling. You cruise along at 90mph, thinking you're way ahead of everyone. The only problem is that the other 42 people that are trying to get to the finish first are doing 180+mph. So you speed up, holding onto the steering wheel for dear life and watching your rear view mirror for someone trying to get by you. Then the flat interstate ahead turns and has 32 degree banking . . . on top of that there are now cars on each side only a foot off your doorhandles! At that speed you have to fight the wheel, steering for all you're worth to control your car and not hit the other racers. Oh, and that's only the first turn of 4 . . . and there's 200 laps . . . which will take 2 or 3 hours.
Look into the tech it takes to make a NASCAR go fast and handle correctly. It'll help you appreciate the skill involved. The race today was won by 2 hundredths of a second. The second place guy lost by less than the length of his car's front fender. Also fun is the fantasy racing league aspect which I'm doing for the first time this year. Pick 4 drivers out of the field of 43 to win. Depending on their finishing position, I get points. Most points after the 36 race season wins.
Edit:
Here's a pic of the banking at Daytona Superspeedway.

Oh yeah, I like NASCAR because I've watched these guys race since I was 3 and I'd love to be in their place . . . getting paid to drive 750hp racecars.

If I wanted to go watch cars going around in circles endlessly, I would go sit at a roundabout.
Or superglue micro machines to a record player.
