most of games are done to run on 64 bits platform, so most of them wont work yet until Microsoft do something. Same with many programs tha tstill work on 32bits. I,m not a engineer in computer, but all i can tell you is install 32 bits for now and wait til vista 64bits gets better

64-bit is backwards compatible with 32-bit apps.

I've heard it works fine on Vista. Got the latest drivers for all your stuff? Also, make sure to run it in Windows XP Compatibility mode and run as Administrator.

edit: The XP Compatibility is most likely what's causing this. Right click, hit Properties (I think), and look for it. Should be either Windows XP mode or Windows NT 5.1 mode.

my friend bought new pew pew with vista on it.  can someone give me step by step install instructions to install vanilla bf2.  i've never used vista before and am not sure about what you mean by running it in compatibilty mode or as an adminstrator.  Please tell me how to install and then if i have to do something special with 1.41 patch.  Help please.

- Set compatibility of setup.exe (on BF2 CD) to Windows XP SP2.
- Let it install.
- Install 1.41 patch (no compatibility needed).
- Run as Administrator.
- Play on!

That's because the game is meant to run on 32bit XP. Get a compatible rig.
