Don't pull the protective gear shite. If "Football" tackles occured in a rugby game, there would be a LOT more injuries. As it is, if you remove the gear from AF, it would be the same sort of strength of tackles as in rugby.
I prefer AF for its tactics and number of roles, however I prefer rugby for the pure action and the fact that the play rarely stops.

Actually I've never been given a card. In ten years.
All my tackles win the ball, and I can do it after running back 40+ yards quite easily. I am a captain, and am also known for some of the best passing out of my friends, as well as being able to hit 40-yard top corner shots. I can win the ball at any time, and then make something out of it. I can play anywhere in the midfield or defense, or in goal. I have a very high work rate, and was recently voted as the best player in my year, inside and outside.

Nothing against US Football, it's just boring to me. I don't doubt the skill required for the pro level, nor do I deny that it's a real bitch getting slammed into by a 200 pound human being. But it's just boring. A one hour game that takes 3 hours to actually go through. Zzzz.. Some cool plays here and there, but overall it's not exciting to me. Now ice hockey or soccer, there's some constant action.
