Windows Vista Problems???

My girlfriend and I have always enjoyed BF2 when we were at LAN parties, and she has always wanted to get it, but never had a PC that could run it. Anyway, she just bought a laptop to play and the specs can more than run BF2... but we are having problems...

When the game runs its extremely choppy, like if an antivirus or something was running in the background. And I am currently trying to update her game to 1.41 and we are having issues because the BF2 Patch will not run. What the hell is wrong? Is it the operating system?

Specs:

Windows Vista Home
Intel Core 2 Duo+
1GB Ram
256mb ATI x1400 videocard
80 GB harddrive

Help me out here, I know nothing about vista, my xp skillz arent helping me much, im lost.

Lower the settings. Maybe it's your video card and ram combined with Vista in the background.

Whilst the system is ok, it gets choppy because of the graphics. Very, very poor.

The problem is the one gig of ram. Yes you can run BF2 with even a minimal 512 mb, it really, really wants 2 gb. That combined with the fact that Vista takes up much more memory than XP, and you will probably have to run on low/med-low settings to get good frame rates.

As far as patching, I don't know what to tell you. Where did you download it from, and what is the specific error (if any) that comes up.

Yeh flaming_maniac is right you need 2048 mb of ram to run bf2 smoothly on hight setting with xp, as vista takes up more memory 2gb is advisable
