BF2S Forums First Sergeant....finally

if you need to get your aviator badge, just buy or borrow someone's joystick and youll find flying to be a MUCH easier task.  I sucked ass at it with my mouse but as soon as i hooked up a joystick I got the badge in the first round.  just dont forget to remap the keys to the joystick when you hook it up.  happy flying.  i get my 1SG tomorrow!

Hmm if i remember right you get the basic aviator badge just by flying around in a plane for 15 minutes IAR. No joystick needed

Congrats. Especially on that Knife Badge   That thing haunts me so much I barely pull my knife out.

Thanks guys and the problem isn't that i can't fly...it's that i only play city maps (karkand, mashtuur, sharqi, warlord, ghost town) online so i haven't got the chance to fly yet on a ranked server.

i've watched my brother play Gulf of Oman and he was continuously getting teamkilled for the jets, so i am a bit hesistant, because i don't want my k/d ratio to get fucked up.

i guess i will need to take the plunge one of these days

Jets certainly can help your k/d ratio... >_>

Same here, i can't fly for shit, don't like tanks big huge target
as far as i'm concerned i'm and infantryman thru and thru

aviator badge isn't too hard just planewhore for a round and you have it pretty easy.

you know whats even bettter? when signing in on a server get 3 points and get promoted 3 times happened with me after the patch 1.03

I'm no aviator, in fact I hate flying, but I have so far solved the problem of people TKing for planes and helis. I join a sever where there's not enough to start a full game, enjoy the spree just for the helluvit... Fly planes, helis, drive tanks and kill or be killed without it affecting your scores... Then, when only 1 more person is needed to start the game...finally joins, you've spent enough time in there and the others tend to treat you differently.... I've never been Tkd for anything doing it this way.... but plenty times when I've joined an already populated server.

I never thought I'd get my aviator badge.  I thought I'd make Master Gunnery Sergeant and that would be it.  I don't play with a joystick and I've always found flying the jets with a keyboard to be very difficult... until I checked the "invert mouse" option.  Now I can fly with the best of them.  I need to work out my timing still with the bombs (I've been practicing on single player, but I'm still not quite there yet), but I can fly the jet pretty well.  After I get my bombing down, the next hurdle will be actually getting to fly the thing in a live game.  There's a lot of competition to fly those things...
