After running a search on win loos ratio I found that most of the posts centers around the difficulty of getting the 3x win ratio. While this is difficult if not almost impossible ,unless your pathetic enough to switch to the winning team right before the round ends, I think EA should maybe have stayed with that theme for other ranks/ medals.

Imagine if people needed to have a certain win loss ratio to get their badges. While 3x is way to steep they could make each badge(or some of the bades) have a win loss ratio associated with it. The higher the badge the bigger win loss ratio. Instead of people just trying to get the badge for themselves they would actually have to think about the team. If you want to promote teamwork reward winning.

You could also do this with rank. To get the high ranks and the last unlocks you would need to have a certain win loss ratio. Again that would make it so people would wnat to win not just score points. Contrary to some poeple's beliefs scoring points dos not equal winning. The guy that repairs the tank doesnt score many points but when your tank has 40 kill and 0 deaths that helps the team win. Not everybody can score 100 points around. Maybe this would make people realize that the guy who stays and defends the main may only score 20 points but his role without a doubt helped the team win.

Obviosly there are problems with this idea. Your going to get people that switch to the winning team at the end of the map. There are several fixes to this. One already exists and that is autobalance which you cant switch teams if it will make the teams to uneven. Another would be to lock team switching win when the losing team reaches 50% of their tickets. That still leaves half the game to make a comeback.

obviously asking EA/DICE to implement this now would be impossible I just wanted to put it up for discussion for an idea that maybe future games could take into account. I think that putting on a little more emphasis on winning could promote more teamwork.

No one and i mean no one would be playing on ranked servers if this was the case. What they should have done was remove the win:loss ratio and base it on time served.Don't forget that some people who switched teams were switched to the losing side as well by admins or auto balance.

First apparently I did not make exactly clear that not everything would be based on win loss ratio. Just more.

Second I think your response is well to be honest pathetic. Do you really think that nobody, not a single living soul, would play on a ranked server if some more of the badges/ranks had a win loss requirement. Well you are mistaken  because I would. Also your suggestion that it should be based on time served would be one of the worst possible solutions. I could just log on spawn in and go to work and come back and use my new gun and look at my shiny new medals. Time is the worst possible comparison. Not everyone has 1000 hours(41days) of free time every six months. Time does not necessarily equal skill.

The only thing that is somewhat legitimate in your argument is the auto balance and admin. The thing about auto balance is that it only  works  when people switch teams(truly pathetic). As far as crappy admins nothing you can really do about that except find a different server. NO MATTER what system is put in place it will be exploted.

So its clear I am in no way sugggesting that everything should be based on winning. I am saying that maybe enouraging winning could encourage teamwork

i think it should rather be based on the k: D ratio you have with that kit... For example: to get any expert combat badge (not knife or pistol), you have to have played that kit in 100 hrs. That is A lot!!! Wouldn't it be better if the criteria was to have played it in say 15 hrs and have a K: D at 1.5? Then it is mostly skill that gives you the badge, not playing bf2 24/7
