Videos and BF2....

My problem seems to be, whenever I am alt tabbed out of a game, i can not play any videos. The music comes through fine, but the picture is just black. This is frustrating cause alot of the time when im done playing BF2 for awhile, i alt+tab back to the desktop and do some forum browsing and 'attempt' to watch videos. I have tried vlc and windows media player both of which have the same problem...

Is there a way for me to watch my pron videos (jks ) whilst tabbed out of a game. It gets frustrating logging in ect over and over again (as i rage from servers every half hour or so )

Just exit BF2. It only takes 20 or 30 minutes to load back into another game and you won't piss off your team by being AFK all the time.

No, i mean, just sitting on the server browser screen like i am now. I used to be able to watch them, but since my latest format, i haven't....

I had the same problem while trying to make a BF2 movie, I'd alt+tab to check to see if a section came out well and would get the same problem.

If you're just trying to watch videos (be they have any sort) while playing BF2 use a laptop or if you've got a second monitor and PC unit hook that up near your gaming computer, just don't complain to me about the electricity bills.

Most media players on Windows use the overlay by default which is a part of DirectX's DirectShow API. Just being in the game browser is still using DirectX resources which is a conflict for the overlay. Quiting out will solve it.

i'd say make sure all drivers (possibly codecs but probably not) are back as they were before your format.

otherwise just wait about 15 seconds to get from 'play bf2' to the server menu, you can't be compiling that many Fraps recordings of hackers all the time can you?

I thought about it, but the reason for the format was new hardware, so the old drivers probably won't work.... Bah, who knows. the idea was get into a server and idle in some armour to get armour time for vet, and watch videos whilst doing so.
