I recently had some bad luck with overclocking and apparently fried some parts.
Now I'm unable to start windows if I have my other HDD connected to the pc (or any other pc).
It gets to the windows loading screen, sits there for a while and gives me a black screen.

I tried connecting it while in windows and it did recognise it but the system is REALLY choppy (when the HDD is connected) and I can't acces it from anywhere.

Does anyone know of ways to acces the HDD?

My system
MOBO - ASUS A7V600-X
CPU - AMD 3000+ Barton
RAM - 1GB (2x512) 400Mhz
GPU - GeForce 6800LE
HDD1 - 120GB IDE
HDD2 - Seagate Barracuda 320GB S-ATA
Running Windows XP SP2

I bet u blew it as you connected it as the system was running!!!

If the HD is still alive, check if the HD with windows works as master and your new as slave or cable select. Look after a small pin next to the IDE cable. And why the hack would u connect a SATA to a IDE HDD???

There's your problem.

If the device has a power connector make sure the power is off before attaching it.

I've never had any problems connecting SATA drives while windows is on. Just plug 'em in and away you go. It works fine.

Read the post properly please

I didn't mention that it has worked fine before, but doesn't now.
I can't get to windows if it's connected to the PC, so I tried connecting it while already in windows.

The HDD is recognisen in the POST but when it's connected, windows doesn't start.
