8. The phones with the speakers.

Everytime I go on a bus now, usually to or from school, there is garanteed to be at least one chav with his mobile phone, that has one of the new speaker systems, playing his dam annoying chav music at full volume. This really pisses me off. I wouldn't mind if the music was anything half decent, as I like alot of stuff, but the things played are those fast beat, dance rave stuff with some robotic, squeaky ass girl singing like a chipmunk. It's even worse when you have a group of them doing it...
I 90% agree with you there it REALLY! gets annoying listening to other peoples music on buses, trains etc.. Thats why headphones were invented. And it always seems to be the 'Gangstar rap' shite by me.

The other 10% ... nowt wrong with techno!
Oh no, I do like some techno, but the stuff they play... God dammit, how can they stand it? It isn't good! At all!

I hate it, when you go to the cinema, and theres always a few 14-15 year old girls there. And they have their phones ON. It's inevitable that their phones ring, to which a real crappy ringtone like polyphonic 'Milkshake' or Crazy Frog/Crazy Cow. Make you want to through your popcorn or drink at them.
This is why you buy a soda and a cup of ice.  Drink the soda and throw the ice at the object of your annoyance.  Pop corn just doesn't have enough mass to inflict the proper amount of pain for interrupting your movie.

What about wrong numbers? I have a really easy to remember cell phone number, (021 336 556, don't try to ring it as it probably won't work,) and somehow every single random thinks that this number belongs to someone they know. Endless text messages from "D-dawgs" and angry phone-calls from people whos accent I can't quite place asking for people with names I've never heard of. Furthermore, and continuing from the "People are Stupid" heading, (although on a different issue,) my voicemail quite clearly states that this is "Peter's phone". How come after hearing that, people go on to leave messags for a Mr. Vladubursk or Sarah Smith?
How much clearer can I be? "Hi, you've reached Peter's phone, I'm not here so if you actually do want to leave me a message, me being Peter and not ayone else, please leave a message and make goddamn sure your someone that I know or else I will track you down and shove your phone so far up your arse that you'll be speaking in dialtones."

I doubt people would listen.

I keep my phone on silent all the time now, being a Uni student I always have the option of saying that I was in a lecture or tutorial, and text messages don't bother me. I don't return them, (unless exceptional circumstances occur,) and if I don't bump into that person on my daily routines then they're obviously not important enough for me to bother sending them a message anyway.

My phone rang at 1am the other morning and woke me up. Mistakenly I had the sound on so the alarm would wake me, and the person who rang me was:
A) someone I didn't know
B) someone who managed to bum-dial me, and thus, didn't know they had called me.

As punishment for this ignoranus' call, I didn't hang up the phone and went back to sleep. In the morning the turd still hadn't realised he had called me, and I again didn't bother to hang up. Finally, somewhere between four and five PM, (I checked before the lecture and he was still on, afterwards he was off,) the dumbarse caught on and hung up. I hope his fifteen-sixteen hour cellphone call bill teaches him to lock his fucking keypad.

What irritates me is their annoying, high pitched ring tones that people think are so cool.

I didn't expect so much animosity towards Bluetooth headsets not everyone who uses them is a tool

Anyways the only cellphone I want is the iPhone. Yes, it's partially cause it's cool. Do I care if you think I'm a tool? No, as you are a fool! (Lol, rhyming is phun).

There ought to be way harsher penalties for talking while driving. Let's say a $700 fine and a point on your license if you aren't using a headset. I can tolerate headsets, at least you're driving with both hands. Taking the call is still an issue though, as is hanging up. Ideally, people would pull over on the side of the road but evidently they'd rather hear their boss bitch at them about how they fucking suck at life instead of making sure they don't run over someone since they didn't notice the red light.

That's the problem.  There are like, 1 of you for every 4,000 people with a cell phone.

I think the problem is 40% technology, 60% people.
In america i say its 1 in 3 with cell phones and 1-3 in 7 driving while talking depending on area.

Oh dear god, I forgot about that. That annoying high pitched whine. I swear to god I'd kick the ass of the kid who invented that.

THERE'S A REASON YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO TEXT IN CLASS - YOU ARE THERE TO LEARN. Not end up like those dolts who drive while holding their phone and drinking their coffee.

Unfortunately, I have to use a phone were I work and I hate it.  Also, I have the numbers to the PD, FD and Hospital on my desk at home, so if I ever needed them I could call over Skype instead of 911.  Furthermore, I live across the street from a hospital and a block away from a fire department.

Let's say you didn't live so close to those services, and the power went out and there's a fire. How do you place your 911 call?

im 14 and im not seeing a cell phone for a very long time, i know too many people with cellphones...
My 8 year old has a cell phone. He never uses it, I only got it as a backup for mine or my wife's phone. The phone was free and the extra line charge is less than what it would cost for accidental coverage on our phones.

but to address the poster's issues directly, you are correct in all of your issues with cell phones. But, when you grow up you will find that you probably need one. The fact that you don't want to be called by your boss on your day off suggests that you have some menial hourly job as opposed to a career.

I agree with Cougar 100%.

I estimate about 90% of my friends and co-workers have cell phones but I don't.  I think the only way I'll buy one is if my car completly craps out on me and I'm stuck riding the city bus for a couple of months, if the phone has fm radio and a mp3 player.

A few months ago the bolts holding the CV axle broke and made my car undriveable. I didn't wanna leave it on the side of the road near a busy intersection and wasn't near a pay phone or store, but the first house I came to, I knocked on the door.  A hot young chick answered the door with her son, after telling her the situation she told me she didn't have a house phone but she dialed a tow truck for me on her cell phone and offered me a drink!  Unfortunately not beer, also her mom pulled up as I was leaving.

When I got back to my car (which had the hazard lights flashing, was parked about 2 inches from the curb, at least 20 car lengths from the nearest insection, and in broad daylight) I saw 3 cars lined up behind it with their hazard lights flashing and people milling about.  My first thought was these cars rear-ended me and then each other and I was praying nobody was hurt.  Fortunatly, no one was injured, not even my car!

Car #1- driven by a middle-aged man, stopped behind my car around 20 ft.

Car #2- driven by an elderly lady, had her car bump into the rear of car #1 but no damage to the front of her car, or the rear of car #1.

Car #3- driven by a teenager, rear ended car #2 and totaled her car and ruined the rear-end of car #2 and pushed car #2 into the back of car#1.

I may have gotten off topic a little bit but the only ones there that had cell-phones, were the teenage driver and her passenger.

That fact may or may not have contributed to the wreck, it could be just because she was an inexperienced driver.

Point is, emergency situations are a great reason to have one.

I think I have it set up better that you though Cougar.  I use a regular house phone with an answering machine and caller I.D.  I have it set up for 2 rings before the machine comes on.  I always check the caller I.D. and if I'm not familiar with the number, I just play back the message, if they leave one.  If anyone that I care to know needs me in an important situation they know the numbers to reach me at work or where I will be otherwise.

The only plus you have in your set-up is NO telemarketers!  Although I like speaking to them when I'm not doing anything but watching t.v. or surfing the web.  I let them give me the speech and then I start F-ing with them and so far everyone of them has hung up on me.

My 2 cents.

I don't have and don't want a cellphone. If I am not home, it means I can't answer the phone, call back when I get home. Why should I be reachable all the time?

Yeah, I was thinking once I get out of middle school I might get one.  Working at my menial hourly job sucks.  I hope I can have a career like you someday when I grow up big and strong.
