For all of you BF2 vets out there who played BF:Special Forces, I’d like to see some night maps in 2142. Envision incredible firefights with tracers lighting up the night and blinding explosions as armor tangle. Support turrets spraying lead, while Engineers send Pilum rounds toward unsuspecting tanks. What do you guys think?

I think DICE would somehow fail coding it and it would LAG.

SF ran fine and 2142 runs even better, so I'm not worried about DICE. How about the idea?
If you haven't noticed, Northern Strike shall contain one nightmap (Liberation of Leipzig).
can't wait.kptk92 wrote:

No, I hadn't noticed, thanks for pointing that out to people like me who weren't observant.kptk92 wrote:

Thanks. I hope there's more night maps at some point. I loved Leviathan and Night Flight (edit forgot Devil's Perch). The darkness added a whole new style of play.
PM me tomorrow and remind me to get you that +1. I'm a Dad on little sleep so you'll have to pardon me.

Just imagine:
- As the Goliath moves slowly past, creep up on one of the repair cells and destroy 1 or 2 without being seen!
- Turn on your camo in the dark so your almost certainly invisible!! Creep up on someone and *knife*
I have a feeling that night maps in 2142 shall be more challenging than SF night maps as you will need to keep a good eye around the area so you won't lose your dogtags.
This shall be my favourite map once it comes out !!
Edit:
I'll be on tomorrow at around 3:00pm (in-game and on BF2s) Add me in-game Kptk92 ;D

Actually, at least for SF doesn't run nowhere near the way vanilla runs. Day maps go fine, but night maps aren't giving me good fps's at all. Might be my comp sucking tho.Stingray24 wrote:

The night map in northern strike doesnt have night vision or grapples or ziplines, you can still see pretty clear.
Northern Strike : Liberation of Leipzig.
Enough said.

SF certainly did run differently, so you're not alone. I could run vanilla much smoother at high ping than SF. I had to find low ping servers for it to run as smooth as 2142.NooBesT[FiN] wrote:

Yeah, what are they doing fighting a war! The future is lost! They should be fighting *gasp* Global Warming! Wait . . . Global Cooling! Look at all that ice!
Liberation of Leipzig is an awesome map.
Nigh vision is a must, and I would like heat seeking vision. I know it will be hard for Dice to program it but I would be like to see heat vision like that game 'Alien Vs Predator'.
No! Please no.
BF2 - 50-60 FPS
SF - 40 only if I turn settings to Low
2142 - 35 FPS with everything on Low
2142 night maps - <35 FPS, even less in the Titan.

You're just retarded, but since you're my friend, I won't say anything really degrading. But FFS, CPUs have almost no effect in the BF world. It's the video card that makes the difference.Des.Kmal wrote:

NONE. but my p4 hated close combat..... same everything else, just a new cpu... went from 10 fps - 100 now.haffeysucks wrote:

I have a 3400+ running at 2.6...I'm telling you, it's my graphics card. I think it got fried. I used to run FEAR at at least 30 FPS, now it doesn't even run over 10.

Gotta be your card, I can run 2142 on high with average 60fps and I've only got a 3800 at 2.0 . . . NVidia 7800GToc, though.
