So i got my first paycheck of 1578,60 Euro's and I'm thinking of upgrading my current pc or just buying a new pc and keep this 1 as a media tool.

My Current specs are:

ASRock Dual SATAII s939
AMD Athlon 3800+
GeForce 6600GT AGP
512MB DDR
20GB Maxtor
230W PSU

Is it worth of upgrading or am I better of buying a new pc?

I was thinking of this from my local hardware shop

Coolermaster Stacker 830 for 210E
EVGA Nforce 680i SLI DDR2 for 250E
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 for 339E
EVGA 8800GTS 320MB PCI-E for 300E
Nanya 1024MB PC2-6400 DDRII CL5 x2 for 190E
Coolermaster Real Power voeding (550W) for 100E
Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 160GB for 64E

I will use the DVD RW from this pc for my new pc then and replace it for a CD Burner.

I costs around 1450E.

Is it worth spending my hard earned money for a nw pc or am I better of upgrading?

assuming you would keep the cpu and mobo you would still need to get a new gfx card, new ram, a new psu and maybe a new hd. so if you spend this kind of cash on old components its probably smarter to go for a new pc

yes, in which case you would also have to junk your cpu which means that the only thing remaining from your old pc would be the case

Being a pci-e card, it wouldn't be compatible with your current mobo, as it is an agp based mobo. unless of course your current mobo supports both agp and pci-e.

How long did it take for you to get your check?  I would say hold off on making any decisions until you get your second paycheck, and then your choices will be better!

Not much wrong with it, looks pretty good.

Nanya RAM is a bit unusual, but ok.

The big issue I've got with that system is hard drives. You want 2 for RAID, makes a big difference and 160GB is hardly enough space - I've got nearly 10x that I always run out.

so i should wait a month to buy a bigger hdd? I think 160GB is ebough to last a month and then I can always buy a bigger 1

Buy 2, RAID 0.

200 and 250GB drives are usually the best value $/GB.
