Ok, so my friend whipped me a week ago with ummmmm something at school after my team pwned his team in soccer and I blocked every one of his shots. So, I had a nice big gash. Then, I decided to find out if band aids are really effective. So, I put a band aid one one side of the gash and nothing on the other. Guess what? I just 5 days the side with out any band aid on formed a scab, while the other side still was very red. Moral: band aids suck.

Yeah but a bandaid reduces the risk of infection.

Band aids are to keep the injury clean and protected from dirt, germs, infection, etc.  They are not supposed to help you heal any faster.

if you choose to complain about something, you should choose a more worthwhile topic than bandaids.

You're suppose to change band-aids every day. Or sometimes even 2 times a day.

I did change it every day.
My mom says its something about oxygen not getting into the wound or something that makes band aids suck.

Wear a bandaid or something covering it if there is a risk of foreign objects getting inside the wound to infect it (i.e. dirt) When you are sleeping or somewhere that there is no risk, then I suggest not using one. I don't remember the last time i used one. if its a small enough cut to not need stitches then i dont even worry about it.

It makes the healing quicker by keeping the wound closed and stopping you picking at the scab.

Question: Why do americans use gay phrases such as "band aid's"?

Wear one during the day while you are active so you don't get dirt in the cut.  You should take it off at night to let the cut breathe and dry out.

Because that's the brand just like Hoover, Cellotape, etc.

You didn't just throw the box on the ground and wriggle around on it thinking that would work did you?

Your not suppose to put the bandaid all tight on the "wounded" area like for Ex: A wound is on your elbow, you flex(i forgot the word im looking for) it where you then put the bandaid then when you make your arm Straight?(god i suck at remember words) their is oxygen able to move in, and therefore its not all tighten up and no air is able to go in. And I probably just made no sense but im really tired.

band aid- most useless thing ever?

How dare you, don't you know they fed the world? 20+ years ago now so may be before your time

All jokes aside, dont bother with girlie plasters let the air get to the cut it'll heal sooner.

Its moisture thats important. A scab is just dried blood and in order to dry the water content has to evaporate. Band-aids will help to prevent infection but in doing so they stop water from evaporating, therefore increasing the healing time. Put on a band aid for the first day and take it off to let the wound "breathe" whenever you know you can keep it clean. Gauze works better as it allows air to the wound and moisture out of it.

"feed the woooorld " i thought exactly the same thing tbh.

I would use a plaster to stop any bleeding but always better to the let the air get to it.Obviously if it was infected you would know about(i hope).

I don't think the folks at Johnson & Johnson included that in the Band-Aid design brief.

Standard bandages just protect the thing from infection. Fork over the cash for the "advanced healing" ones, and your wounds supposedly heal quickly.
