Hmm, well, I'll keep my Norton for now (as I paid for it I might as well use it) and I'll keep it until either my year subscription runs out or Norton fails and starts causing problems, and then I'll take a look at NOD32 and see how much better you guys are saying it is.  I wish a tech site or tech tv show would do a comparison on top AV programs, that'd help me out too in finding out which AV program out there really is the best... maybe I'll google around a bit and see what I find...

Edit: well, what do you know: first site I click on, and here's what they have to say:

Reviews unanimously agree that NOD32 is as good as or better than Kaspersky Anti-Virus [NOD32 took 2nd to Kaspersky only because it was easier to use for inexperienced computer users than NOD32] in all but one area: Reviews say NOD32 has a very hard-to-use interface. Although computer experts say NOD32 offers great protection, no system drain and no software conflicts, most users will be confused by its unintuitive and confusing interface and controls. That puts NOD32 out of contention for anyone but sophisticated computer users.

So essentially what they're saying is, if you have any brain at all and can use a computer, NOD32 is the Antivirus software to get.  And looking at the cost of NOD32, I can get a 2 year subscription direct from the software maker for, and get this, still LESS than what I can get for a 1 year, Norton Internet Security subscription at a college-student discount price!!!  So, to sum it up: when my Norton subscription runs out in 173 days, I'm SO getting NOD32 for my laptop!  Thanks to everyone who mentioned NOD32: they know where AV software is at!  +1 to all of you who said: NOD32 > all (including this thread's topic titles AVG and Norton)!

NOD32 FTW!

exactly. once you go NOD32 there's no going back. one of the best anti-virus programs (detection wise) as well as very light weight so it doesn't slow the pc down.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
