There are many network programs that can do this easily. I used to use something called http://www.networkmagic.com/.

It's pretty easy. Make sure the computers are on the same workgroup, make sure file and printer sharing is enabled. Then you've got to make sure you don't have firewalls blocking your transfers, the windows firewall is shit, turn it off and use a proper one - once you've done that allow appropriate traffic through it.

Then you just right click on any folder and set the sharing properties for it.

With a bit of luck you should be able to see the folders in your network places on the other computer.

System properties, Computer name tab, click Change.

Easiest way of getting to system properties is to right click on My Computer and pick properties.

Actually, the easiest way is Winkey + Pause

Mind you XP is painfully slow when it comes to networking. That god damn hourglass. It HAUNTS me. Why, why must you search for Printers and Tasks?

I'd never realised that. Nice shortcut.
