I agree.

My friend has a "Support The Troops" bracelet that he wears and he regularly gets in arguments with people.  People don't understand that there is a big difference between supporting the troops and supporting the cause.

We have a right to petition government for redress of grievances. You do not have the right to physically assault us. If you do, we have the right to defend ourselves. It ain't gonna be as easy as you think. You might want to continue to let the cops do your dirty work for you.

So how is burning an effigy redressing the government?

Where would you draw the line, spitting on them or throwing feces as they got off the plane?

What arms do you own and what training do you have to use them?

What a bunch of fuckers, I'm fully against this war but I'd hate to see America make the same mistakes they made with Vietnam vets.

It's not just burning cloth.  It's very obviously symbolic and "anti-troop" which is retarded.  Protesting is good, dishonoring Veterans is not.

I actually agree with a lot of what Hunter has said, but there is a fringe of the radical left that has contempt for the soldiers because they do follow orders. They have actually said the troops should turn their guns on their commanders.

Hunter writes well and argues his points good.
I guess thats what I meant, not so much that I agree with him.

No one is saying that they do not have the right to express their discontent. No one is even saying that you have to accept the soldiers. The issue here is the approach. It is not necessarily the trouble and disrespect towards the soldiers, they do have bigger fish to fry. But there are people who are away from their families every night. Children who don't know if they will ever see the fathers again. To go out in public and intentionally inflict emotional pain and anguish on these families who have already sacrificed a great deal is highly irresponsible. It is not necessary and it is asking for trouble.

My very sick-minded friend thought up a very, very, VERY painful method which probably isn't fit to put here, but I think it would be adequate.

But those who say this is the fault of the political opposition or use this as political points are just as bad.

Land of the free and home of the brave..................unless you piss of the army, in which case they will hang you for your own good.

Who were they harming?

How does burning cloth deserve death?

How can you criticise Muslims for backward views when you are operating under Middle Ages concepts yourself?

Something i said in another thread seems relevant here.

Its very disturbing.  As much as i disagree with UK and US troops being in Iraq i want them all to get back to their families safely.  For someone to want the death of their own/allied soldiers just doing their job so that they can force their political agenda on people sounds exactly like the kind of people the war on terror is targeted at.
