I just started playing this game again after it has been sitting on the shelf for a year or so.
Does anyone else think this was the best (or one of) the best storylines of all time?

Anyway, getting to my question... I have the GOTY edition of the game, is there any way I'd be able to 'downgrade' my copy so I could play on the net? Every server seems to run the unpatched version.

Some of the best music ever too.

Dues Ex just fucking rocks. The end.

There is another thread out there and I'm not sure if what you're asking is possible at all. Sorry mate. I always found exploring the single player's many, MANY different aspects to be more entertaining anyway.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

QFE. I feel it was very underrated.

Deus Ex was an amazing game!  It's too bad the sequel sucked.

I'd say Deus Ex definitely has one of the best storylines.  I have the GOTY edition and never tried to play online, only singleplayer so I can't answer your question.  For the life of me I don't understand why other companies haven't produced a game like this.  The blend of FPS and RPG offers so much depth it increases the replayability by a huge margin.

I only played Deus Ex: Invisible War. If that's the sequel it wasn't too bad, the story line was still well thought out however the graphics were pretty poor. Still a great game imo.

Baaaaaahahahaha... Invisible War had NOTHING on the original. NOTHING... Was a stinking pile of shit compared to the first one.

I'm not going to bother reading this entire thread to see if this's been answered, but some of the middle-aged PC games often run on the original version because the majority of servers still up used an illegal copy and a crack. Other victimized titles include AvP2 and Freelancer, to name a couple. Downloading a bootleg copy, if your retail version is too advanced for all of the running servers, is always an option.

try to download by torrent(The original) and install .... since you have an original disk of DeusEx...it will let you play online!!! even if you have the GOTY edition...

You serious? That's pretty shit. Oh well.

Besides, single player is where it's at for Dues Ex. Loved mastering pistols, having a fully jacked up regen, bullet proof and sprinting mod. You can wade through so many guys with that 9mm cranking out head shot after head shot like that. Quite fun.

They recently made this game supported by Steam but I can't figure out how to do it.  I don't think mine had a CD key.

Deus Ex is THE best computer game ever. Closely followed only by System Shock 2 though.

Can't wait until these two are finished:
