Hey,

I have just bought a new Logitech 250 USB Headset + Mic, which is all working fine apart from the mic doesn't appear to work in BF2.

In windows I can record my voice etc no problem, but in the audio options of BF2 when i "test microphone" I hear my own voice back in my ear piece but the little audio volume bar doesn't move. Also "boot mic gain" is not available to tick.

When i press "v" or "b" in game no speaker icon appears either.

Please help me!

Thanks,

BBT

There may be no FIX, sorry - its a EA/BF2 install glitch.

A mic., sometimes, will only install properly at the time of the intial BF2 install. Why? Only DICE/EA knows.

To get it working right you might have to:
1.) Delete your battlefiled 2 directory in the mydocuments folder.
2.) Plug the mic. in
3.) Re-install BF2 (SF if you have it - not sure - but I would re-install aswell just to make sure).
4.) Retrieve your account profile.
5.) Re-patch.

There might not be another way.

I don't have a direct answer so try the following for starters:

Test it on a third device such as xfire, teamspeak, ventrillo, etc.
If it works elsewhere, then reinstall BF2
If it doesn't, then update your sound driver or try a different port for your mic (use the one on the front of your comp if you have one)

Can anyone have anymore info on the subject? After the patch, I cannot seem to make mic work as well. I tried two headsets (Logitech USB 350, and Logitech analogue input set) on three machines with three different soundcards (including one machine that used to work with both headsets before) and everywhere is the same picture: microphone recognised by the system, and is successfully tested in CP, moreover it works in the BF2 Voice Setup program (in root BF2 folder), but none works in the game itself.

You could try lowering your dirext x settings for audio.  don't use acceleration for hardware.

*also make sure that you are actually in a server that supports it (little headphone icon in the server list)

when you press the talk button does the icon show up???? you need to be sure your in a server that supports voice!!! try changing the talk button then resetting all of your controls to default. Check to see if  your computer has muted your mic voluime sometimes computers wil do that which in some cases wil disable the mic recognition in game> I would advise you tot ry these options before going through and reinstalling everything just my experiences

You might be playing on servers with VoIP off.
