I am trialing FRAPS, but I am having problems.

Here are my specs:

CPU- 3.0GHz
Ram- 3GB PC4200  DDR2
Sound card- NONE.  On-board audio only

FRAPS settings
Full-size
29.97 fps
Recording movies to second hard drive.

1- Sound- I can only get it to record from my mic
2- Recording from battlerecorder- drops from about 90 fps to 11fps when I hit record
3- Recording from within the game- Like this the best, but the lag is unbearable

I have read a lot on the forum, but it's all swirling at this point.

Can someone help me with these issues?

record 1/2 size. your pc can't handle full apparentely. for sound imput make sure that its set to stereo mix and not mic.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I can try the 1/2 size, but I see no way to set the sound input to stereo mix.

I have 2 PCs within spitting distance of one another.  Is it possible to play BF2 on one PC and record what's happening on a second PC so as to not tax the processor of the game PC?

Recording the game sounds will make the file real big and makes it hard to find somewhere that will host a big file. No I dont think it will sound any good try to record sound from one PC to another the way your wanting to.
Just ues the Half-size and try and set the frame rate in the box on the right to like 25 with no sound then you can add some music to it in Windows Movie Maker and have a nice clip. Also make sure your not running any other programs in the background that might make up CPU usage that might help.

AMD 64 2.2 754
PC 2700 1g

what type of 3.0 ghz cpu?
what resolution does full size = on your pc?
what is the second hdd size/speed and how much do you have on it aside from the fraps avi?

i have a 2.6 amd dual core (185 opteron) standard clock speed. record to a second hdd (3200sd western digital sata) that has about 60 of the 320 gigs used already. 1280x1024 is full resolution.
can record full size at 60 fps no problem.

Also:
- check your average framerate ingame and then set this rate for FRAPS (be sure to have enough free space before starting the record)
like 30-40 Gb to be safe
- as posted above also check your adio settings for the stereo Mix, to check it with FRAPS it should also say then
  stereo mix in fraps
- as posted above, half size is enough and still takes a lot of space

You may wanna get yourslef a registered version from some p2p site, but im not recommending that here
good luck

Your sound issues are a result of what the recording input is set to in the windows mixer.  Double click your speaker icon in the task tray (go into control panel - sound devices to enable it on the task tray) to load up the mixer.

Under the menu choose Options - Properties.  Set to recording and make sure Wave (prefered) or "What You Hear" is selected as the recording device (you are set to Mic right now).

The video data will always be the major bit-spitter to the second drive.  So focus on that and your target.  If it is web only then go 1/4 size and grab it real time.  If for DVD then grab full screen off a BattleRecorder file.

You can also output the renderer directly to compressed avi without needing fraps:

Hope that helps.
